Schnabel needs a company wide equipment maintenance plan that takes machinery out of production at specified times to perform a careful inspection looking for problems, and repairing them or replacing parts as needed. These preventive maintenance (PM) plans are typically based on a 250 hour interval and the person performing the procedure checks off on a paper form as items are completed. The forms need to be filed so as to be reviewed at a later date or for evidence of trouble.
Having a good maintenance program lowers costs considerably by regular service and replacing worn or broken parts BEFORE they break or fall off!
