  1. Model Y SR has already 260 miles range on EPA (this figure is sown at 100% also in Europe but in km).
It may be somehow possible for the US variant SR to have the same battery as LR? And to enable extra range

  2. IT should be a crime either way. Either you have it or you dont. Other wise, we are still paying for it to be there at the price production (higher base price) than it should be in the first place follow by a sub fee? Thats just wrong. At least when it comes to something psychical. I understand if its something like software, but when it has a real cost to have it in hand, thats a totally different story and such methods should be punished.

  3. Unlocking range feature means you have some quantity of the battery you can't use but the cells are there…, so it is a dead weight for the user that do not want to unlock the range – More weight = less efficiency !! More importantly, more and more governments think to tax the car according to its weight, so you will end up to be taxed for a weight that you can't use … Btw, this is valid for any feature that involves "sleeping hardware" but enabled by OTA software.

  4. Ah the "paid range" . Telsa already used this before. They had only one batterysize but locked the capacity on the Model S thru software. Then later they started to use different sized batterys.. but will go back to this 1 battery, so this is why you can probably "unlock" range, but paying. Seat heating is paid sub on BMW Volvo and others… so.. maybe Tesla aswell.

  5. 2:00 Tesla started accepting bookings in Malaysia in July 2023 and Y deliveries are expected “early 2024”. Malaysia is a tiny market but I’d be very surprised if they deliver non-Juniper Y in Jan/Feb ‘24 and then release Juniper Y in May.

With the 3 they didn’t accept bookings till Sept’23 and Malaysia were one of the first to get Highland 3. First deliveries in first week of December’23.

I think there is little to no chance Juniper comes before Q4 ‘24. Either that or we get a nice surprise and it comes Q1 ‘24. IMHO

  6. The in between Y info is correct. I asked Tesla if we were getting the in between as it wasn’t as sluggish as the Y RWD we can get. I was told we wouldn’t. Subscriptions for heated seats nahhhhhh surely.

  7. You may be wrong here Viking. Tesla may be finding it more cost effective to make just one battery pack rather than two. One robotics assembly line rather than two. Or possibly buying these battery packs from CATL it is cheaper if they order just one version in larger bulk than if they ordered smaller amounts of two versions??
That may explain why they would do a software limit….allowing you to upgrade if you want.
The good news here is that the SR model will seem to charge faster because 100% charge is really less than 100%. As to the seats…..remember that Tesla has been reported to be getting third party seats now. Getting heated seats might be costing Tesla more and they may want to try and pass that cost on to consumers? Just a guess.

I am glad that I bought the MY this year (2023) before they put in the LED lights… which I find outrageously tacky….. or change the dashboard look.

  8. You can upgrade the range for a payment. Tesla has done this many times.
You buy a car with 260 miles of range. Then a few months later you can upgrade it to 275miles… It’s a nice option.
Cars with new battery types are always range limited until they see how the battery performs.
It’s just to make sure it lasts at least 300k miles and degrades really slowly.
Subscription will never happen other than for FSD.

  9. I know youtube algorithm incetivises a larger number of short videos rather than one long, however, as you make many videos per day, perhaps it might be a good idea to combine them together into a daily rundown video with all news of the day (as a duplicate of existing short videos)

  10. I don’t know, this seems reasonable. It’s probably cheaper and easier to make one seat, ie, heat always included. Heated seats are a premium, so why not just include heated seats in every car and allow those who want to have the premium feature pay for it. This is no different to unlocking software features.

  11. my favorite idea: reserve some spare capacity on the battery (invisible to the user), and keep it always charged . and unlock it if the user is in range trouble (paid, of course) could also be done dynamically.

  12. Tesla appears to be behind the curve. BMW has decided to stop charging car owners a subscription fee to use their heated car seats, though the German automaker remains committed to paid on-demand services.

  13. I think you are calling it right. Would be very inelegant to make these payable. Sounds like low cost travel approach to cars.. everything becomes an extra … pay for each feature is not the right way to go! 👍 Green light becomes a red light 😂. Thanks Sam.. despite all the headwinds you are always so positive. Be well.

  14. Subscription fees for heated seats was tried by a lot of car manufacturers in the US. They all gave up the idea eventually.
That said, my ICE car has heated seats, but I've never needed or use them even at minus 15 degrees C outside. It's really just a gimmick as far as I can see.

  15. Be healthy. We should all walk united against paying for atmosphere destroying technology. Yes even making the materials right now for solar and wind energy is very still polluting. We are overpopulated. We need smaller families by planning parenthood and requiring parents to commit to marriage before babies, and to raise their own children in wedlock if physically possible, — to stop destroying the planet. ❤😊
