I still love using mine. It was THE camera I wanted before the D90 was released.

  1. I am a Nikon D200 camera owner and I love this camera I am a Photographer and not a videographer but I will be crossing over and do both in the cuter mirriorless cameras are just to expensive right now I cannot see myself spending for a combo camera because if their is a problem you will loose one of the formats Nikon needs to continue with the DSLR just improve on them and I would love to see Nikon produce a medium format I just what all around quality and now since film cameras are making a come back I will also being going back to film I love the quality of chrome.

  2. I bought one when they first came out, 2007 I think. I lasted until last year. Then the error code came up. I found a used one in New York and ordered it for $55. It came today with a battery and charger. Looks almost new and everything works great.

  3. The creator has just described half of the Nikons from the last 15 years-
Can take nice pictures if you know what you are doing. You can change settings with ease. Compatible with many lenses. And so on.

  4. I am a Soccer mom and just found one at a garage sale! I have no idea what I'm doing but how can i get it to take many fast action shots while they play on the field? I can only seem to take one shot at a time!

  5. Back in film days ( pre- 12MP = iso 400 film res) I had Nikon pro gear – F3 and N90 bodies + lenses.
Around 2001, I was just getting my foot in the door of Photojournalism, and a degree from a good school. I needed a digital SLR ( for newspapers) but couldn't afford Nikon's cheapest body – D100, at ~ $1400.
**That was the time Canon made its 1st "Digital. Rebel" – w/18-55 lens, so I had no choice, and switched…
… The years passed, I bought a couple more Canon lenses, then another body (F3).
With improved DSLRS, lower prices, I bought a new Nikon D3200 (12 MP) w/ lens. I can use all my old lenses, esp 80-200 / 2.8, in "full manual", but I'm now skilled enough to shoot "Manual" and RAW.
** I find NO PROBLEMS with the cheap, LIGHTWEIGHT "Carbonate"- plastic body.
    – I bought a Sigma "Pro" ultra-zoom – 18- 300 (30- 450 equivalent) for my SMALL, LIGHT D3200, which I carry EVERYWHERE.
    – I've dropped cam and lens about 10 TIMES, with no harm but broken lens shade, or filter.
I can get Pro results, shooting anything from macro insects to Rock Concerts, or live Theatre, or helicopter Med- evac from 100 M away…

  6. I had D80 and then bought D7000. What I instantly noticed with D7000 with the same lenses was a disgusting red brick skin tone (especially under artificial light). I could not get rid of it even using photoshop or Nikon's own software.

So one big thing about D80 is beautiful natural colours that it produces.

  7. The D80 was my first DSLR. I will always keep it. It still takes great pictures. I have several other DSLR’s and mirrorless cameras but still pickup my D80 from time to time because it’s just a great camera with an awesome build quality.
