Oil changes, Oil changes, Oil changes! If there's one thing to be anal about with your cars maintenance its regular oil changes. The manual for my car says 15,000 KM But I don't really like the idea of going that far between changes so I do 8,000 instead. I don't drive all that far so it only ends up being twice a year I change the oil.
If I were looking for a car, you would have sold me a Mirage. 😂
Mirage has the worst death to crash rate of any car made. No thx.
I'm curious to know what fuel brand both engines were using for the majority of their service.
Wow, you really took good care of it. I expected to see the usual brown film covering the valve train that I see on cars with many fewer miles.
So basically if you've got a car with a high mileage like in the 300k bracket, you can have the entire engine removed, and have it cleaned and get some worn out parts replaced and you could go extra 300k or more with regular oil changes without a problem 😂
You should have checked for play in the pistons – due to ring wear or wear in the rod bearings. Would have helped with the diagnosis.
What do you think of the gen 3 montero? I LOVE MINE. almost 200000 miles
Some say that 524,000km is the break-in period for those Mirages 😂
People who call a basic car "worst" are pretty ignorant – it serves it's purpose and I'm not surprised that this non-sophisticated engine gets good mileage when maintained properly.
Though riding 5.000km monthly in this is severe frugalist stuff 😉 considering that amount of time spent in this car, the driver cant be too picky about comfort.
What about oil consumption before dismantling? Was it significant?
Reminds me of my dad’s 2012 Camry.. he threw 285k miles on it. Never gave him a single issue, just regular maintenance until the transmission went out. Even if the transmission gave up the engine was still perfect, no shudders at all, and drove like the day he bought it. Oil came out perfect every time he changed it.
What brand , viscosity of oil was used ? Also what invervals was the person running ?
Simple cars like this are great. Nothing fancy to break. As long as the engine is reliable, the car goes forever and is cheap to keep going. I don't think people realize how getting such a simple car can reduce their expenses and hassles so much and they're all convinced that they need to tick the 'yes' box to as many features that they can afford.
Hello from Thailand (the country of origin of the car). 10 years ago my country passed a law to support 1200 cc econobox that spawn the Mitsubishi Mirage, Nissan Micra, Toyota Yaris, etc. In the country that call the Camry large and call the Ranger gargantuan. All these economy car is enough for most of us. The only problem is that, many of them used the CVT made by JATCO (a subsidiary of Nissan) and it's pretty shitty.
Amazing video, thank you it was very intresting.
How long can timing chain guides last?
Because doug is nothing short of a dumb channel that only appreciates inappropriate cars that over 90% of the viewers can never afford regardless.
Let's dislike practical cars, and like dumb stupid cars because 282838828282hp!!!!
Pretty much every engine can do this with no problems, you just have to do the maintenance and drive normally. At a certain mileage people just don’t care anymore.
what can cause that noise is Hydrauilc lifters or Timing chain Tensioner or maby Piston Ring any Idias
2:50 red stuff looks like RTV sealant the heat proof kind, flaked off somewhere
Great video. Do you experience rattle on start-up, especially after sitting for a bit
Hard to complain if you get that kind of mileage out of the cheapest car sold in America.
