  1. I know someone said that the tower at 13:15 was a switch tower, but it was not uncommon for those towers to be used for traffic control – a gentleman would come down from the tower with a sign or lantern to stop car traffic to allow a train to pass by, especially where it was impractical to have a crossing gate.

  2. Did you ever ride the trolley at the Electric City Museum? I remember you and your friends went to the Baltimore Trolley Museum. Loved the video, JP……..🌝

  3. Thanks. For another interesting video. I worked out of several offices in the Scranton area and saw many areas I used to visit including the old mall. As for that small structure you showed near the railroad tracks, it most likely was a maned railroad crossing control building. In days past especially in areas where trains would do local switching, railroad crossings gates were manually operated by a man stationed in one of these structures. When the crossing needed to be closed he would operate the gates and sometimes also exit the structure with flags or lanterns to warn car drivers of the train approaching. When all was clear he would raise the gates so cars could go through again.

  4. Not a fan of the show. What little I saw of it I found droll. I enjoyed seeing the train station and would love to see the inside of it. Those old train stations are quite interesting. The information on why Scranton is called the electric city was cool. Steamtown is also awesome and the only place I have been in Scranton. Thanks for sharing this tour of the city. I hope someone saves those cool cars in that deteriorated building.

  5. Things have changed in Scranton since when I grew up there. Was thinking of visiting today for the first time in years but the countryside has such brilliant colors with weather of heretofore unheard of beauty I'll remain rural thank you.
