  1. So I got the gear out. But now I can't get the actual carriage unstuck, to slip on a new gear. Rather unfortunately, in the video it suddenly jumped to the left when you went to put on the new one. So I have no idea

  2. I found disassembly to be a bit more difficult. The sped up video masks the specific number and placement of screws but eventually all are easy enough to locate. The side covers do not simply pop off – my 9015e also had screws at the bottom inside cover that i needed to remove in order to take off the right side cover. The cartridge wasn't just a slight turn of a gear and wiggle for me. I had to remove the cartridge cover and ink cartridges in order to see that there's a sliding mechanism underneath that needed to be slid back and forth. I also had to loosen screws on the metal bracket to the right side of the cartridge. These extra steps allowed enough wiggle to remove the cartridge. Hope this helps others. My public service announcement here is that this printer is junk and HP should be embarrassed they put out such a low quality product. I don't think I printed more than 20 times in the year that I owned my 9015e before it broke.

  3. I'm sure HP has planned obsolescence for all its' printers because my printer gear broke exactly 2 weeks after the warranty expired. Coincidence I think not.

  4. Thanks For Videos and very helpful. Mine is a 8630 and I have right hand cover off. The print head seems to be locked on right hand side, not jammed or stuck but a physical/mechanical lock
? and I need, obviously, to unlock it to have any chance of trying further fixes. As a number of people have the same issues I was hoping that you would be aware of this issues and a fix. Appreciate your help Cheers Trevor

  5. I am getting more confident that I will be able to repair my printer. I have a broken paper feed gear on HP c8180. This is one printer that I can't toss without at least trying to fix it. The scanner still works wonderfully. And since it can still be used hard wired, I am going to try everything before giving up.
