On this trip we used a Takacat inflatable boat with a Torqeedo electric motor. We started at the Red Bridge River Access on the Manistee River and continued down towards Tippy Pond and Government Island. After passing those, we camped for the night. The next day we portaged across the Tippy Dam…

Huge thank you to Max from greatlakeswatercraft.com for loaning us the boat! If you're interested in one of these boats, check out his website. Grew up and spent my summers at Insta Launch campground. Helping my grandparents who owned it at the time. Located right where the river ends into Manistee Lake. Which then leads out to Lake Michigan through the city of Manistee. My grandfather and uncles. (His sons) were all charter captains….I miss those day😊
feel like the only reason the Canadian geese were mentioned is because Robby wanted to say gaggle.
Yayyy, back to this beautiful place I call home. I love when you guys tour here in the mitten.
Guys,it looks like it would be easier canoeing..with no motor. Lol you look like you were all ha ing fun..
Great video. Just a tip: gumbo and jambalaya are two different dishes. Gumbo is a soup that is served with rice, and jambalaya is a stew that has rice as an ingredient.
The video was great and I especially enjoyed the trekkie banter. LOL Hey Robbie, What kind of shoes were you wearing?
Bring back campfire chronicles!
When are y'all coming back to the WMNF to do Mt. Washington Properly?!
Thanks for a trip back home! Grew up in that area… all so familiar. Wish I'd known more about the mushrooms when I lived there. I knew only morels.
I don't have any buddy's so it's nice to hang out with you dudes
I am an 81 year old fan. Your videos are so relaxing and informative. I love nature and your casual, happy attitudes. I love Michigan as i have relatives on both sides. Thx.
Beautiful video! Thank you so much for sharing the visual beauty of your wonderland. 🍂🍁🍂
Thank you. This was a treat to watch.
Super awesome trip, you guys! What a great learning experience on operating the boat, and such a treat for Max to lend his boat. And, as with everyone, we love your closing credit sketches. Loved the penny pips on the Star Trek sketch, and especially loved the What We Do in the Shadows one! More people need to know about that film.
I wish I was this cool and adventrous to go with you all! Please invite next time! 🙂
Hopping vampire 🤣🤣🤣💀 I watch for the top quality nature content, but I really watch for moments like hopping vampire 😆
Be careful when using wet rocks in a fire. The water inside will turn to steam and the rock will explode.
Sandhill cranes are also called the 'ribeyes of the sky'
From Louisiana… WHAT THE HELL, MAN?
I love the Star Trek references!
So I'm assuming you put in at highbridge road below the dam
Mullein leaves have hairs on them that will make you itch terribly if you use them for toilet paper! It really doesn't have anything to do with bugs. You can dry the leaves for tea too. Just strain them or use tea bags so you don't get any of those tiny hair. I've also made tinture with the dried leaves and flowers to put in tea as it is great for respiratory infections and other ailments.
Thanks!
Food is always delish when Bryan is around! 😊
I think by far this is my favorite video! The footage, the journey, the camping site, and the people, very friendly. I even wanna watch it again. Very nice job guys, I absolutely love it!
As I am successfully past that age when certain things can’t be said out loud, let me tell you, when I was younger, the female dilemmas regarding hiking, camping, boating, all sorts of outdoor ventures, seemed to be awfully overwhelming, starting with a minor one like shaving legs, or not(!?)… There were moments when I dreamed to be a man in my next life. What a vast level of freedom that would bring! I have mastered my freedom by now, no need to change a gender, but, oh my, I would be so jealous if I happened to go back in time and watch you young men being so relax and free from “champagne problem” of an old days young girl! I cannot express how much I enjoyed watching your boat saga! Special thank you for being environmentally thoughtful. Now off I go to revise my Star Trek 😉
It looks like a really fun journey down the river. 🎉🎉
Have you considered doing a special on Isle Royale National Park?
Next time in Manistee, eat at the painted lady. Try the crab soup.
In Andrew’s defense, that set up needs a propeller guard, that’s would be such an easy add on for the manufacturer. But, they wouldn’t sell as many spare props!!
I literally started sniffing when they showed the gumbo cooking from the top. But I am also high af
One of my favorite
Just would like to say, it's good to see ya'all again. Haven't seen much of your videos lately. So I'm glad to catch this one when it came across my feed. Good job boys!!!
Thanks! Good content fellow Ohioans! 😂
Well done guys ,educational and beautiful to watch. ❤👍🥳🦘🕊
We think Andrew needs more lessons before he can captain again.
It's not engine! It a motor. It requires electricity. Engine is self contained power. Like gas, diesel, or steam.
1:32:20 is a banger
Have you guys considered the boundary waters or quetico park? I had a summer job leading treks there and even after paddling over 1000 miles I still love it there.
