  1. Like the statement, the Govt runs on COBOL and Band-Aids, over here in NZ, we call it the Number 8 Wire and DIY. Our Govt systems run here on a "She'll be alright approach", If its running fine, dont need to fix it/Improve it".

  2. Hey what's up GPS! Great to see you. Thanks a lot for the book recommendations! I always value your opinions and insights on things and these books sound amazing. I think I'm gonna start with The Phoenix Project because I'm studying for my next cloud cert and I'm on the fence as to whether to go DevOps or pure cloud network engineering But regardless, I know I'll be scripting in one form or another, there's just no way around it! So I'm definitely gonna check those titles out! Thank a bunch again and you and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy new Year and as always, be well, be safe and Cheers!!

  3. My three books would be the Pragmatic Programmer (so, so good covering many different topics), the Mythical Man Month (it's a classic for a reason) and a Philosophy of Software Design.

  4. Nice recommendations def gonna check them out. I just finished Surveillance Valley by Yasha Levine. Apparently Tor was created by the Us Navy and is basically a honeypot. Also signal basically has NSA backdoors built in. About to dig into Kill it With Fire: Manage Aging computer systems (and future proof modern ones) by Marianne Bellotti, i really enjoy her medium articles.

  5. Excellent advice for anyone, but especially those who are or want to get into IT as a career.
Using the "developing new habits" practices really helps making regular reading part of your daily routine. Essentially just find a way to make sure you read everyday for the first 30 days. After that you will have begun a new habit that will help you stick with it. I don't know if this works for everyone, but it's helped me incorporate daily tasks that I was neglecting.
    Another excellent video. Cheers! 👽✌️

  6. The reality is that tech skills is not the only thing that makes you a great candidate/employee/professional. Reading is one of those skills that will massively impact your career. Read.
