The problem is not with the Vivid mode / washed out colors, as this is software and will be resolved in a future update.
The real issue is the grain/noise. It's especially visible on lower brightness and dark environments. And more visible on gray backgrounds. The whole picture is full of grain/noise, it looks like a cheap LCD. I'm waiting another week for the sw update, but this looks like a hardware issue.
There are lots of reddit threads about the grainy look issue.
Sir, eye shield is not the problem. There's a bug in the system that doesn't show the color gama right. The current fix there is to help it is by changing the new contrast option under developer settings. Switch to High contrast. Eyeshield will always add a yellowish tint, that's how you kill blue light.
Samsung always makes huge mistakes..hopefully they fix it soon. What I hate is the delay with Bluetooth devices. My 10 yo laptop has almost null delay with the switch controller but my s23 ultra makes the games totally unplayable. Terrible.. the sound has also delay with bt headphones during music playing
I don´t know what to do. I tried your suggesstion. Nothing changed! Samsumg refuses to address the issue. I don´t know but I think I´ll have to retururn this. I really do not like this display, It´s lame, ugly and embarassing,
Nope! Your fix does not work
Comparing to my s21 ultra it's super super dull….
Samsung will push out a fix. This is not one btw.
I never use eye comfort, is worse strain to my eyes.
The S23 has oversaturated colors….S24 is technically not washed out. You just aren't used to seeing a more natural color vs oversaturation….
If someone uses #screengate
Stupid fix ha ha.
This is no fix ! The option was already off and the difference is striking, colors are dull !! Saying this is intended is just bullshit ! Sorry Samsung but I don't buy this pathetic lie.
The one on the right side is obviously clearer and looks more vibrant
maybe on old phones the eye confort not work properly and now its working how should be 😀
Absolutely horrible Samsung would release a flagship with this kind of bullshit screen on it. I want this screen to pop in my face like a strippers pussy on my 30th birthday. Really disappointing.
Same problem in my s24plus. Upgraded from an s20plus and the display looks awful and washed out. No pop to any colors. Vivid mode does almost nothing.
Thanks for nothing!
I spoke to a Samsung rep via chat and asked if Samsung was aware of this issue, he said no. I'm like but how??? Frustrating
The s24 regular has it as well
Its not a issue with the 24 Ultra Armor Display…the S24+ has the same issues and its a gorilla glas victus 2.
I think its a softwareproblem and get fix with a Update👌🏻
This video is not accurate. I never had the comfort shield on and the colors were still muted.
200 & 50 MP Camera post processing issues are worst. They are over processing it. They are looking darker and cartoonish. Kindly ask them. Will it get fixed after camera update? Does any else have the same issue?
There is a difference between natural and vivid but is very subtle
Hopefully somethin they can improve on software update bc im thinking it has to do with the anti reflex display
They will fix this issue with update
Didnt fix it for me
The only reason Samsung can get away with releasing devices full of issues year after year is that people are ready to pay 1000+ bucks/euros and then wait and hope for updates. We should be more demanding, we don't get this devices for free !
S23 ultra display washed out
Im selling my s24ultra if the screen doesn't change, never expected it from samsung
I already found the fix to this issue the RGB settings is messed up, the RGB bars are generally set to Max in S23 and other Samsung devices but in S24 series I noticed that RG were set to minimum while B at full, also the colour tone was set to cooler side instead of at the mid point. I changed these and issue got fixed.
You must be turn off true tone (as the same on iphone) if you want colour wonder
More studies have proven that blue light isn't as harmful as previously thought, just so you know!
Got my s24 today and same Thing but turning off eye comfort shield didn't fix it unfortunately
For those having display issues with their Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, they need to check that the QHD+ (320×1440) box is checked. Its default setting right out-of-the-box is FHD+ (1560x 720). To find this setting, it is three steps below the Screen Mode that has “Vivid” and “Natural.” I hope this helps. Personally, I don’t think Samsung needs to release a software update to fix this issue.
Good looking out. This is great news for me and considering I don't use comfort shield it's a no brainer. Thanks.
This video appears to lack a clear purpose and may have exploited a popular search topic for personal gain.
Blue light doesnt harm our eyes, so eye comfort doesnt fix much, i never use it, cause i want to see true colour of the picture, but also i have no problem with blue light, some people may be lil bit, but it was scientifically proven that it doesnt hurt you in any way, its all just about personal precision.
Everyone refers to this as a washed-out screen but it's actually a natural color setting, which I prefer. So it wasn't much of a change coming from the S21 Ultra. I used to love the Vivid mode but now it is just way too intense and distracting for me. Obviously Samsung will patch this and fix it because I know it's one of Samsung screens defining features
I just got the new S24 Ultra. The colors are very muted and dull. I have tried all the different settings from the eye shield, vivid versus natural, advanced settings, and none of them make any significant difference. I am coming from the s21 Ultra which has great vivid colors and contrast. The second I turned on my S24 Ultra I wondered what the heck was wrong with the screen. I have called Samsung twice. The people I spoke with were not aware of the issue. I was so disappointed. I was really looking forward to this new S24 Ultra model. The duller muted colors show up on the regular S24 and 24 plus as well. I hope they're able to fix this with a software update, otherwise I'm not keeping my S24 Ultra. I'll just go back to my s21 Ultra. Also I found I was getting a headache from using the S24 Ultra. I think that the screen is supposed to be brighter, but maybe because of the anti-glare coating they have to try to push more light through the screen to get the same brightness. I'm not sure, but it hurts my eyes to look at it. Again just very disappointed. I don't know how Samsung, who is the leader of OLED screens, allowed this to happen on there 2024 flagship phone.
just disable the "enhanced comfort" option, under the "eye comfort shield" menu. If u activate this option on the s23 ultra you will see the same washed out color, maybe in the s24 ultra is activate by default, and on the s23 ultra not
I must say, this was the first thing I picked up 😢 and is frustrating
Ok, I've had my S24Ultra for the past couple of days, and i also have my S23Ultra, so im able to put them next to each other. There's a lot more than just washed out colors going on with the screen of the S24Ultra, the contrast is also super crappy, and with my S23Ultra brightness slider only half way, i have to crank up the slider much more on the S24U to match the same brightness. The only good thing is that no, it is not the "anti reflective" coating on the new screen , and it is a software issue, so Samsung can fix it (if they want to). The problem for them, is that if they don't fix it before the return window closes for all of us who are not willing to accept a much more expensive phone flawed or handicapped by the software, then at least in my case, I'll be keeping my S23Ultra, and back it goes the new phone. So Samsung is against the clock here if they don't want to have a massive wave of returns over this.
