I've had a ring where my 1ct center stone fell out after having it less than a month. I got lucky and found it also. It happened at the neighbors house and was on the only concrete slab in the entire backyard. I took the ring back and made them give me a new one, not just put the stone back in.

I've been having so many issues with platinum lately. It's just so soft, even from huge well-known designers. Makes me sad.
Looks like my engagement ring! The little gaps on mine look like church arches and there are tiny diamonds going down eachside. It's not a popular style as it looks more "vintage" but I always get compliments!
This has been happening for far too long. When my now husband proposed nearly 20 years ago, I was shocked by the poor quality in the high street jewellery chains. I remember a sales associate pushing this expensive platinum solitaire on us and I asked ''don't you think that band is far too thin for the diamond?" She immediately jumped into a spiel about how it was supposed to look and feel so flimsy to 'highlight' the diamond. You ain't highlighting no diamond that drops out and gets lost lady… We purchased a diamond and had it set properly by an independent jeweller, 20 years later it's still on my finger. Also worked out cheaper for a better quality product.

As a jeweller myself a lot of customers just dont want to pay the price, so cheap manufacturing is a go to.
