  1. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction since you seem like the person to ask. I have a 2012 CTS with a 6L45 that has 130k. Previous owner never changed the fluid. It has torque converter shudder, the first 2-3 shift after starting the car has a <500 rpm flare regardless of temp. There is a noticeable pump whine at 2800 rpm and beyond. The transmission always seems to be in too high of a gear when letting off the gas then having to accelerate again (example: somebody slows and makes a turn in front of you, then you get going again) this exacerbates the TC shudder, if you give it gas to make it downshift the RPMs will hang up then drop down a few hundred rpm without upshifting for a few more seconds (possibly slipping?). Sometimes the car jerks when this happens.
The transmission is just in very rough shape. The rest of the car is immaculate and the owner took good care of it and it had oil changes every 5k at the dealer, I'm assuming they bought into the lifetime transmission fluid lie. I'm planning on doing a full overhaul of the transmission and I'd like your input on what you would recommended doing. Budget is not much concern, I'm looking to have a smooth shifting transmission that can handle my occasional lead foot and last for years to come. I plan on changing the fluid every 30k once its rebuilt. I'm also going to have the TCC turned off until 5th and 6th gear with HPTuners as it seems the tuning of this transmission shortens the torque converter's lifespan. Thank you in advance.

Edit: the transmission also shifts harshly. Sometimes it will shift so smooth you don't feel it shift but a good majority of the time, there is a "clunk" feeling with each shift.

  2. Hi Tom, on a 4t65e mine has a bearing noise only when it gets hot in park after driving 25 mins. If I move the gear shifter towards reverse just a tiny little bit but do not take it out of park the noise goes away completely. Do you know what may be causing this? I rebuilt the transmission and the reac support and and 4th support caged bearings sounded fine when I spun them. Transmission shifts ok otherwise. I did not mess with the valve body because everything seemed to be moving ok. Transmission has 189,000 miles on it. Just wondered if you have an idea what could be causing this bearing noise only when hot it park. Thank you for your great videos! I never would have attempted a rebuild without your help! I have drove it 1000 miles since rebuild and it is not getting any worse.
