It's a must buy for me on day one
samsung making the soc is very bad news, i still haven't forgotten neither forgiven them for their atrocious exynos soc's.
Man the internet sure has fried people's brain, to the point where a "portable Series S" in 2025 is deemed as "outdated and disappointing", when not even a Rog Ally (700-800$) runs games like the Series S does.
I honestly don’t care about new joy cons, just fix the joycon drift
Finally zelda games in 1080p 60 fps handheld or die?
Some of the original Switch prototypes employed magnetic joycons, but if I remember correctly, the issue they ran into was that in order to create a sturdy interface, the magnets had to be dangerously strong, so they scrapped the idea, since they didn’t want people getting their fingers accidentally caught between two super strong magnets.
For tech morons like me, how would the Switch2 compare to the SteamDeck, then?
The joy con will still probably suffer drift problems.
DLSS on this tech should achieve pretty interesting things for a handheld but I'll believe it when i see it.
I think magnetic thing is bad idea, as it can worn out and joy con fall off.
I perfre joy con that slide in the raills.
If not let play 1440/60 frame no buy it👎
magnetic?? thats gonna give me anxiety 😒
It seems like the successor to the current switch is going to be pretty beefy and it’s looking like they’re using a custom version of the T239 ran off the shelf chip like they did with the current switch.
I hope it's actually called "Switch 2" I don't want Nintendo to give it a stupid name like "switcheroo" or something
it wont be 4 teraflops lmao
Another underpowered Nintendo console. They better have some great launch games to make up for this.
If this is true it would nearly match the XSS! This is what i expected!! Many people thought they would only use 2TF max! Now we are getting 4 TFLOPS!! As they are "new TFLOPS" it would be more in line with the SS than with the PS4Pro!
For those who allways say: "Nintendo does not care about graphics": Nintendo has a NEW PRESIDENT now who thinks completly different than Iwata! So nothing is impossible! When was the last time Nintendo said graphics where not important?! Yes in the WiiU/ 3DS days when Iwata was still alive! The Switch was an Iwata product as well! These specs are higher than anyone thought because they where not aware of the fact that Furukawa is more some kind of "Yamauchi type" wich liked higher end hardware!
7nm is honestly ridiculous and extremely disappointing in 2025. Budget android chips will be manufactured on 3nm in 2025. 7nm in 2025 will leave Nintendo further back than when even the tegra x1 came out for the original switch
Uploading right now the clip is a bit misleading give the tons of new informations we got between thie original video and yesterday.
I look at it all this way: just remember what Nintendo (and 3rd party devs, as well) managed to pull off with our tiny beloved Switch.
Now imagine what can be achieved with 3 times the power. Can't wait.
Samsung really doesn't make anything on 7LPP anymore, it was a stopgap, early EUV node. If Nvidia is using Samsung its either 8LPU or 5LPP
I think Nintendo will stay with very similar body and design, there's nothing they need to change for console that is handheld and portable with detachable pads. Nothing on the market comes close to portability of ninny switch.
One of the biggest things I want addressed is the horrendous input lag. Even when directly connected and in handheld. Drives me nuts.
graphics are nice, but if i need to spend hubdreds of gigs of my storage for that, especially short games (below 50 hours), its not worth it for me
Switch 2 needs to have a solid launch lineup of games. I know the OG Switch titles trickled out, but we had Zelda and Mario Kart in the first month. There was enough to play. But Switch 2 is in an entirely different situation. There needs to be a damn good reason to buy it.
Thats absolutely disappointing. At around series s performance? 5 years later? They will once again get hardly any 3rd party development. Forget about 60fps.
So you can have maybe Ps4 Pro and Xbox One X graphics fidelity …which not bad in the hands of Nintendo 🤔.
The Switch 2 soc should be at least 6 or 5nm
If anything GO AWAY from the joycons, please leave that design in file 13
You guys heard the 12gb lpddr5x 7000mt
256 ufs 3.1 storage
7m. again sorely outdated tech when it launches. Lame! give us RTX 4000 serie atleast
It's worth noting that the patent about the splittable clamshell design had six (or eight, can't remember exactly) shoulder buttons, presumably so you dont lose inputs when splitting for co-op. Of course there's no need to point the obvious, i know a patent is not a certainty. A plain Switch 2 would be safe, but it would lack that element that subverts expectations, so i still think a detachable clamshell is possible. The inconsistency between LCD and OLED rumors might also be about that.
Come on alex put on a t shirt man next you will be naked on the show.
Electromagnetic suction would be stupid, waste of battery life. Probably wireless charging/powering of joycons while connected to console and wireless data transfer to avoid hacking point like launch model of Switch 1.
Sensitive metallic triggers might have interesting application at a low cost. Just having the possibility to give an input by interrupting contact for example might be the cheapest way to have some kind of hand gesture mimicing in games. I'm more and more thinking of a switch "cubed" (switch³) with handheld/docked/VR gaming…
Wait so will it be an ARM based processor as well or a x86 one? Can someone clarify?
Awful timing guys considering the hardware shipment leaks in the last 36 hours lol. When i saw this pop up i was like "Yeah DF are onto it" but this just a clip from the Direct lmao.
I think it's more like magnetic locking with a "Switch" i mean a real switch literally
Since the Switch was so successful, they can't change it much. So, what do they do for the successor? Make it more powerful. Nintendo Power!
The custom die for Switch 2 bodes really well for the planned longevity of the system. You can tell Nintendo is trying to put their best foot forward compared to doing the best with what was available on the market last time around. Hopefully this means Switch 2 is as optimized for this form factor as possible. Can't wait to see the games it enables!
Samsung is its own fab. If they were using tsmc the new 4C nm process is supposed to be cheaper and more efficient than tsmc 4nm.
I think samsung 7nm will work just great for what Nintendo wants to do.
