  1. I accept your words (14:3017:00) as a technician. We are at a heavy risk each time, we encounter a repair where something might go wrong beyond our control. I too was charging a very low price for repairs. As you said, I did not value my repair skills, I was charging lower prices. If a dead motherboard is received for repair we need not worry about the mistakes that we make while repairing, cuz, it is already in no power condition. Recently, I received a laptop that works fine only the problem was the DVD drive was not detected. Usually, I'm very careful in handling motherboard with voltages, I don't step my foot on the ground while checking with voltage. However, when I tried to measure the voltage on the DVD SATA connector of 5V Run power. The probe mistakenly slipped and shorted 5VS supply line and data line of SoC. The result was a catastrophe. High voltage with high current hit SOC. Now I have to replace the SOC or motherboard. I was really upset about the mistake and costs me 300$ to change SOC. After watching your video I realized, that I should charge high for these repairs depending on the expensiveness of the laptop. Thanks for your advice

  2. about the shorted mosfet, maybe the guy who attempted to repair the laptop before has taken it out and re-soldered it badly so that there became a blob of solder under the chip that made the short before you take it out …

  3. you know what… I have the exact same problem asking for money like yours… even it's 20 years passed my first attempt on repairs, I still can't ask for the right amount of money, I always fear that maybe if i say something higher they cancel the job… damn this lack of self confidence. it rubbed me my whole life !!!

  4. Hot air soldering from the back i learned here, from another channel i learned to use aluminium tape instead of Kapton tape. Both tips really improved how the repair looks afterwards. 😉

  5. Awesome job, frustrating but your perseverance paid off. The wire on the charging port seems a bit fragile, maybe an idea would be to see where it is connected to on the pcb (I do this searching with one probe on the point I know so this would be the track you exposed, and put the other probe in a ball of copper wire wool and touch the pcb part by part till I find continuity) and solder the wire to that point.

  6. Hi Sorin, whoever replaced that charging port at computer shop he is Butcher, he is the one to blame for wasting your time, hope you charge them Arm & a Leg.
