  1. Quick correction!: I think it would be better if Zangoose and Seviper swapped times of day; with Seviper being more available during the daytime, and Zangoose being more active at night. I don't know why it slipped my mind to look up the animals that these Pokemon are based on and find out when they are most active, like I did with other Pokemon. But a few of y'all have pointed that out to me, and I wanted to address it here! Thanks for all y'alls feedback!

  2. Honestly very good ideas it genuinely makes me wonder how Pokemon does not think of things like this when developing their games but fans can come up with way better ideas and concepts than they ever did lol

  3. I just love your videos. Every time you release something I find myself enjoying your content so much, you can see how many hours are into these. ❤

  4. The first time I played Sapphire after having played Gold/Crystal, I was extremely disappointed. It brought so much life to the 2nd generation that the third felt not as alive without it. Honestly I think they didn't want to go through the effort of assigning different pokemon in different areas to different times, it felt lazy.

  5. I really wish there'd be a version with both a day/night cycle and a season cycle. I think the best way to go about it is to decouple the cycles from real life. I like how the seasons in Gen 5 were tied to what month it was. It didn't feel like too big a commitment. Day/night cycles should be like that too – one day cycle could be 6 real life hours or something. That way you won't need to fiddle about your clock just to catch certain Pokémon.

  6. The intro was evocative. If a world never experienced night what would happen? Now it makes me wonder about Kanto, and how everything is in stagnation. No day/night, no weather in an urban environment. It's like hell.

  7. The idea of Swablu moving around the region during the day is SUPER COOL and it made me realize I'd love to see that sort of thing! I've looked over time-of-day encounters in a lot of places, but they mostly assume the Pokemon all live on the one route and don't move around at all. Such a cool concept.
The early gens always feel like their encounters are based way more on ecology (like how Pidgey/Rattata show up basically everywhere in Kanto lol). It's easy to say it's just lack of variety from a lower amount of Pokemon, but imo it feels like a deliberate choice and a change in direction as the series has gone on. So yeah, the idea of Pokemon migrating from one part of the region to another as the day goes on? That's super cool! I love that!

EDIT: I'm pretty interested in seeing your perspectives, so I'll be watching the older videos. I started with Gen 3 (LeafGreen) and moved onto Gen 4/5 (Diamond, SoulSilver, Black) before dipping out until pretty recently. This is not counting my (kind of related? but kind of separate?) interest in the anime/manga, which I didn't really keep up with super well but did pay attention to whatever was going on broadly. Anyway, I've started to appreciate the difference in the overall direction of the series at different points. You can feel how the older games were super limited on purpose (expecting you to use TMs, for example), or how Gen 2 actually introduced new Pokemon by saying they were NEWLY DISCOVERED in the time frame between games, which isn't really how new Pokemon are framed in-universe anymore! They're kind of assumed to always have been there, at least by the characters in the games. It's really been neat, seeing how Pokemon has transitioned slowly into a more streamlined game, and also more friendly to things like real-life competition. Or how some Pokemon are just BAD because they were designed around being a boss monster (like Brock's Onix) or around the player using them for a specific point in the game (like Beedrill against Misty's Starmie).
Sorry if this is a really big, weird tangent! But I've just been really enamored by seeing the ways old Pokemon games may have been more deliberate than most people give them credit for, and it's really fun to see lots of perspectives of these games from a variety of angles. So I did enjoy this video, and I'm really interested in seeing your thoughts on these other regions, knowing you've been a longtime fan (even a little older than me lol)

Also, sorry to ask this after such a wordy comment. But I am just curious, why Saffron City? lol

  8. I swear I had the same meditite mandela effect. I'm working on a ROM for emerald and adding Meditite to Granite Cave was one of the first things I did. (Btw I implemented a lot of your ideas from region repair in my hack, especially pokemon availability)

  9. I didn't understand the day/night cycle in silver. I was a kid and I couldn't stay up late lol. I remember playing in summer once and catching night pokemon I hadn't seen before
