The video of the female commander talking and the news of "record potato famine for the 17th year in a row" makes me think that either the government is a sort of totalitarian regime or the war isn't going so hot.
I lean towards the former because 17 years of consistent record potato harvest is the kind of thing you'd hear about in a communist country, I know Romania under Ceaucescu would do that a lot and have huge displays of "harvests" even though the fruit was just painted wood. Though the cassettes throw me off because I know that there were some who were able to get cassettes the high quality ones would've been Western or Japanese. Still the flag seals the deal for me because it looks like two hands, begging or uplifting, a diamond.

I just want to draw attention to the tea cup real quick. It looked empty to me. Sure, the ad didn't show the whole interior of the cup, but the implications of tea being a daily ritual even in the absence of any tea is a bit grimdark.

Also, I love seeing guns that could seamlessly fit in the Warhammer 40K universe because you expect an 800mm air defense gun in WH40K but the Gustav ridiculousness of it when you're not in that kind of universe is just a nice change of pace.

On that tea thing again, that planet looked like Helghast's neighbor, who's almost as Hellish; no tea in the cup could be a sign that the planet can not grow tea. Lots to sink your teeth into in this game, and I eagerly await seeing more with ya, pal. I hope this game scars you in the right ways.
