  1. I would kill for ChromeOS to have a better files app. It's unforgivable in 2024 to not have the same features that all other OS's have in their File explorer.

  2. Just got a ASUS Chromebook 2 days ago. Normally, I don't care much about Chromebook b/c its ram and storage capacity. This one comes with 16gb ram, 512gb storage and intel i5. I'm going to use it for android apps besides MS Office app. It's list about $600 but I only paid $299.

  3. Why do they bring out different versions of Chromebooks with the same model number (514)? There are plenty of numbers out there, or if you can't think of a new number, call it 514a at least!

  4. Just got done looking at Costco's website and there's an equivalent HP version with an illuminated keyboard and better quality for $399 but nowhere do I see any I-5 or I-7 offerings and I-5 is the minimum processor I would buy

  5. Sounds great but the problem I have with Acer is that every Acer laptop that I've ever bought which is about four of them have all died within three years and all the Asus, HP and Google pixelbooks I've ever bought have never died they're still working today

  6. I bought a previous gen 514 on your recommendation (core i3/aluminum case) in 2020 back when they were battling HP at the $399 price point. It was an excellent choice and has held up admirably, although it does run a bit warm. Loved it so much I picked up a lesser model Acer refurb for knockaround duty- 3 years of hard use on that one and the screen is going now.

  7. Another cheap plastic Chromebook. Would be nice if this channel made something other than repetitive review videos of cookie cutter Chromebooks. Show what Chrome OS can actually do. Show Crostini. Show the current state of Android app integration.

Show what it's like to use Steam and the various ways to install it. Show why people should consider Chrome OS rather than giving more light to the endless piles of Chromebook e-waste churned out.

  8. Intel core i3-n305 is horrible. No hyperthreading…in 2024 that is crazy. It sounds good and powerful a intel core i3. But it has nothing to do with the intel core i3 eg gen 10, 11 or 12.. Every cheap smartphone have a better processor… and more ram!!!

  9. On a tight budget, I'm using the 512gb version from Costco instead of buying a new Macbook for software development on Linux with git management.
Put it into developer mode, and install Linux, Debian runs in terminal in a Crostini container. In ChromeOS file manager make a git folder and share it with Linux.
At terminal bash prompt change directories under $> mnd/chromeos/Myfiles/Downloads/git.
Now you have a $1250 Macbook for $250.

  10. I have been actually looking at different acer chromebooks the past few days. I don’t have Costcos membership but I only ended up paying $299. Which is a steal! Everywhere I looked the 128gb version are going for 399
