  1. For a beginner you're doing so well! Keep at it. Yes the elephants benefit from the upgrades. If you're ever in doubt you can always look at the stats of a unit, then upgrade and see if they do actually go up. Also, when you find yourself lacking in one resource (gold here), you can always convert some of your excess of another into it via the market. So you could've sold a few thousand wood for a bit of gold to help; it's not 1:1 but it can help in a pinch.

  2. this game is difficult and old but awesome! was my first game growing up. i hope you have fun playing it! 1tip: never use town bell to put villagers in town center, try to select the closest and use garrison "t" to put them in. cause then u dont loose all working villagers.

  3. Check out spirit of the laws video on the first 15 villagers. it really helped me not just figure out the early game but to understand it.
also id say try ramping up the difficulty until you hit your wall. theres a big difference between moderate and hard, and with that greater sense of accomplishment.

  4. It was cool watching a beginner play! I've never played myself, but I've found watching the pros play to be fun. Nice to see how they started out. Keep up the good work!

  5. The moderate AI was trying to teach you about relics:). They are in most of the cases one of the first things you should think about after getting to castle age. They generate gold when in monastery and if you get all of them you can win just by that. Monks are actually very useful units as well. You forgot about them. They can heal your units and convert enemies.
You've followed fast castle build order and built a nice building wall around your base and that saved you from loosing in first 15 mins. Good stuff – keep it up. It's definitely much more entertaining to watch you play on moderate :). You've won but it was by pure accident :). If you were located a bit further from your oponent you'd have lost for sure :). AI villagers would finish the wall uninterrupted by your castle and you'd probably try to break in with elefants and fail. For buildings you train rams. Only indian civs have good siege elephants, but those are buit in the siege shop not stable. You also missed on burmese UU. Arambai when massed are just great. One more thing you've forgot about is to train villagers until you have half of the population cap filled with them. Pop cap on standard games is 200, so you should have at least 100 vils. I also see you're very hesitant about taking vills off they work. You need sth done you grab whatever vills are nearby and do it. You can shift click them back to work and not worry they'll go idle when finished. E. g. your castle needs repairs – you drag select five or more farmers and right click the castle then shift click on a farm. They'll repair the ccastle and go back farming. The castle staying alive is more important than the food they will collect in that time. If enemy pushed a bit harder (just tiny bit) you would have lost that castle and possibly the game, so don't hesitate to take vills off work.
Also if you see AI build walls it means they have all the relics or a wonder completed:).

  6. He he GG and WP. You were soooo lucky, a few seconds more and you would have lost because the AI had all 5 relics and that starts a timer 200 gaming years and you loose or if you get them you win.🤣 Anyway, Battle Eles are considered Cavalry so use cav upgrades and melee upgrades for them. You should absolutely continue on moderate. You will learn a lot more and a lot faster. Theres so much variety in this game just playing against the AI use as many of them as possible. Let alone playing team games and coop and against other players. Go get em!😎

  7. I love watching you play through each of the civilisations. It's very fun to watch & see you explore the different units & their many different architectures. Congrats on your 1st Moderate difficulty win 😁✌🏾👏🏾🎊
It was definitely close cause all I was watching was that countdown of the Relics & I was worried you might lose. Thank goodness you didn't haha!
Yes the Elephants do benefit from the Cavalry upgrades at the Blacksmiths & also Husbandry & Bloodlines which are also researched from the Stables.
You Castles would massively benefit from the University upgrades to make your Arrow's fire more accurately against moving targets (Ballistics) & also Fire arrows (Chemistry) which does more damage.
Loved how you built 2 Castles near each other & used their arrow fire to reign havoc on those pesky villagers 😂 Good strategy there! Your build order is going great!
Definitely getting better & better with each gameplay! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
    Loving your content! 🙌🏾

  8. Nice work with the build order: even if you mess it up a little, it’s still better than not having any kind of plan at all, & your instincts around balancing your economy toward what units you are making are getting better, too. Nice! It felt too easy to you still, mainly because just by having a build order to loosely follow for Dark Age & Feudal, you played vastly better than you were playing before.

Pro Tip: Make a couple of monks to heal you elephants next time. If you had done that and gotten all the upgrades for your elephants you wouldn’t have lost any and would be bulldozing their base with like twice as many elephants at the end. Do that and you’ll be ready to play on hard in no time!

The upgrades you needed are husbandry & bloodlines from the stable to make your elephants move faster & gain extra HP. The cavalry upgrades from the blacksmith apply to elephants, also. Your castle also had defensive & attack upgrades for them which are unique to the Burmese, as well.

  9. i like skirmish its good… i think most people play it on moderate difficulty by default…

the reason they attacked so late in castle age is because the enemy went for the relic victory relics dissapear from the map 29 mins ish into the match indicating they have been picked up…

all the blacksmith upgrades are armor for each unit and the cav armor dose effect the war ellephants armor too…

ai surrenderd under conquest rules because you ransacked the civ even tho the monestary was still up and the countdown was still active… moderate ai in aoe2 de needs work 😂😂😂
