I modified my dad’s early-mid 1960’s Nikon F mount lenses to work on my Nikon D2X, or any other modern Nikon digital camera that you have available. I also had to shave down the shade on the 35mm F2.8 lens to work on my DSLR, it simply wouldn’t mount up. It took a little bit more than an hour…

  1. You can cut half the shape of the lens (half moon) out of a wood 2×4 and then use a wood dowel after you place the lens in the cut-out to reshape the filter mount a little at a time. If the threads aren't that bad, you are on your way. Instead of ruining your filters on bad thread, sacrifice a UV filter and break out the glass, and screw the glass less frame onto the front of the lens and you will now have clean threads for your filter.
