if you want to avoid taking your phone on runs and you hate the "gestures" on the buds this can be fun.
This could theoretically be useful for someone who owns AirPods but not an Apple Watch, but that describes 0% of the people I know.
If you can do a software update through the screen on your EarPods case, that would be awesome! No more updates through the phone.
I can't think of any useful features this would bring.
I am still a loyal Beats user, but the AirPods are almost exactly where I want them.
If they drop something like this this year, I'll buy them for sure. I say, why not?

I bought the same fake AirPods Pro in the video last week in Shenzhen, China. Do you know how much it cost? It’s less than 100 yuan, which is about 13 us dollars.

That’s stupid. The case stays in my pocket. Why would I want to stare at a screen?
The reason for putting a display on the AirPod case is for those people that do not like wearing a watch. I would gladly pay for as much of the functionality of an Apple Watch that Apple could put into the case. Almost like a pocket watch! Those of us that refuse to wear anything on our wrist are missing out on some very useful integration features that we could finally participate in.
On the contrary, this makes complete sense. It is the iPod mini, the one everyone jogged around with on their arm but with EarPods! 256GB to 1 terabyte storage. This is simple for apple to implement and sell millions of.
I never take the case out of my pocket or pay any attention to it. My watch and phone provides me with all the “useful” information.
if apple did this, and enabled music to be downloaded onto the case, i wouldn’t even need my phone on short hiking trips and walks. would be a new style walkman, and not really an ipod with a limited display

I don’t think this is reason enough for them to do it. If it happens it will be for something new they are introducing. Maybe something like heart rate being read from your ear. I don’t think that would be it but something like that where they could justify including it with a price increase.
That display looks better than I expected but I can’t see Apple doing it, would be a huge battery drain and eat into Apple Watch sales
Who wants that? People don't even use the screen on their Apple Watch since they always hold their smartphones.
