  1. You missed the point of Ki really. Now you don't have to stow devices that you use now and then, with a cable which is honestly the big reason you don't take them in and out of a cupboard. Got a rice cooker? Put it in the cupboard, take it out when needed. Or have a rice cooker, blender and food mixer and just move forward the one you need. We've been waiting for them to finalise it for five or six years, maybe more. It's a huge improvement just like USB C being on basically everything has been – I got a lemon squeezer the other day that's USB C. Huge improvement and works very well. This might seem trivial but these are huge QOL increases and will reduce manufactured e-waste (pointless DC barrel plug charging bricks that only work with one device).

  2. I don't get what's going on with Intel. I remember back in the day, everyone wanted Intel CPUs. Every time I ordered a laptop, you had to pay extra to get an Intel, which I'd always get Intel. Hope they get their stuff together.

  3. Tbh with the price increases that come with the added npu die space it makes sense to be interested whether that npu is actually getting used

Plus it makes it way easier to notice if/when ms decides to quietly launch some new invasive feature (or relaunch one 🙃)

Overall, I get that this stuff might be improvised etc, but 'who wants to know that' is still a pretty garbo take

  4. Wireless power for kitchen countertops is the most wasteful and useless technology humans have invented. A city needs to increase their power production by 30% if such a tech becomes common place in every household. Fuck qi charging and fuck phone makers for making a useless and wasteful and battery killing tech normal.

  5. I massively HATE the tendency of the industry to make thinner electronics every year. what´s the point? doesn´t even make them look cooler, just more fragile, unnecesarily complex to produce, next to/downright impossible to repair, takes away functions, ports and upgradeability, tend to be more expensive, last for less time, produce more e-waste

  6. 7:48 — that’s not how taxes work. Whether they pull the game from the store or not, they can write all the costs off the taxes anyway.

I would have expected that YouTubers had better understanding of corporate taxes. (Another thing people don’t seem to understand is fiduciary responsibility, but that’s topic for another time).

  7. Well yes, I too sometimes accidentally hit an O instead of an I when typing because the letters are so close together on the keyboard, but to let a typo like that slip on some poor kid's birth certificate???

  8. Is it fine that i made a habit to watch Friday Checkout every Saturday afternoon actually while eating my lunch? 😀 This time seems better fitting for me to ingest tech news, i am more awake than on Friday evening after a long work week. Also, vendors are going overboard with "Copilot" ideas. A button on a NUC case, which is ideally in a shelf under the monitor, but probably somewhere hidden from the eyes under the table or behind the monitor..

  9. I am fan of pop-up cameras (bring them back you stupid manufatures) and that pop-out huawei camera is awesome as someone who doesn't use the web cam and selfie cam all that much.

  10. I strongly recommend you try eink devices it helps me working on computer again I was struggling a lot from eye strain and burning effect. It saved my professional life.

  11. Doesn't induction cooking use the exact same core technology as Ki? It also seems to use similar amounts of power, so it might not be that bad in terms of efficiency compared to induction cooking

  12. the controller and webcam are just terrible ideas – dedicated space to items that can be lost is not good. Everyone has different preferences for controllers to embedding is not a good idea. 2 ideas that are not solving any problems for anyone and in fact will create more problems. for the webcam just have a privacy slider.

  13. The wireless power for kitchen appliances makes a lot of sense. Dealing with cables and plugs on a toaster, coffee machine or mixer is really annoying as you have to untangle, and retangle it for only a 5 min use. And since you're not using them for hours on end, efficiency doesn't really matter.
