Hi Chris from Toowoomba Australia!
A mate had an Amiga 1000 and it was the first time I'd been introduced to one after reading about them in various magazines of the era. So wanted one but was out of my reach for a few years until 1992 when I traded a C64 in for a refurbished Amiga 500.
Surprise! EMU68 has now WiFi too 😉 Michal made a dream come true with wifipi.device
Great to see the Amiga 1000 boot into life because thats where it all started. Cheers
Your love for Amiga is unmatched Dr Chris!
As a 13 year old kid back in the early 90s I spent many years swapping games for my A500. At the time I had no idea about the journey of Amiga and Commodore, workbench or what its true capabilities were.
Sure we had Jesus on Es and spaceballs to show off the graphics and sound (taking much fun out of inferior 16bit consoles)It’s thanks to guys like you that teach us youngsters the true potential of these systems and how they shaped the personal computer.
Seems to me the Amiga was so close to being the standard format!
Another great video Chris. Huge thanks from the UK
Nice looking backplate!!! Glad your using it and great job fixing this A1000!!
Another great vid Dr Chris. Have had things like this happen to me on A1200 systems. Real head scratcher when these happen. Cheers 🍻
What makes your A1000 a boing ball edition. What does that mean.
In XCopy in the Tools menu iirc there is an option Killsys which throws as much of WB and unneeded things out, switches to a few colors to give more memory. On 1MB machines that was just enough to do the trick without a swap.
Btw when you get numbers other than 0 when reading disks in xcopy it means it can't properly read it.
I hate sdcards with a passion
Don't you love it when more things break while your trying to fix something. Always nice to see A1000s running, after all they set the bar.
Don't trust SD cards for many write cycles. And they can be corrupted if writing and the power goes off.
Clone a working good one and store it inside the computer. Swap it in if Amiga is misbehaving.
Nachos the correct way?
I would run CaffeineOS on it myself
My guess soon as you said "Green Screen", was Agnus, I had a few green screened Amigas, that was Agnus popping Socket & Roaming free, but maybe your A1000 was jealous of all the other Amiga you give love to, & Wanted some attention….
8:25 – I still have my 1.0 disk set…
The disk label does not specify, so it may have been before 1.1 was developed, but the Extras disk has ABasiC.
lol
