It looks like Dewalt is starting to go down the same road as milwaukee. Selling tools and not supplying the switch separately.
Even when the same switch is available for other tools.

Top stuff as usual. Nice one Deano. Really enjoy these tear downs and repairs
The housing fix for the dewalt planer is actually quite handy. I did something similar to a headset. The plastic holding the earcup broke making it prone to wiggling and eventually falling out, so I took a washer that would fit the other end and file it down until there was a good fit. Heat the washer up and gently pres it into place. Adding some superglue to keep it secured at the bottom and top and it feels now more solid than the other side.
Hi Dean, I had to fix that same hedge trimmer my problem was the micro switch mechanism inside the actual handle it's an easy fix
always dewalt
Heyy Dean, thanks for the education. What brand do you advice that is affordable, of a descent quality and easy to maintain? Seems to be that Dewalt is not the way to go.
Dean I have the same hedge trimmer, same issue. On mine I found the problem was where the handle slots on to the body. There was a tiny bit too much play in those slots and the safety switch wasn't being mechanically engaged.
Being on a job, in desperation I made it fit snug with tape and it's been fine ever since.
Pretty lousy for a tool that was only a few weeks old.
Makita always
Hedge trimmer probably leylandii hedges, they release a load of gunk that gets everywhere when you trim them.
I like your honesty,Dean. If a tool brand is dodgy, you say so. I’m a builder and carpenter by trade. I’ve been interested in various brands of battery powered tools. So far lm completely put off Dewalt, and Milwaukie . I’ve stuck with Bosch, Makita and Hitachi. Many of them 20 years + old. No issues at all. It’s great to see what’s actually inside the modern stuff. And good to see what brands to avoid. Love your channel.
What a prick company Dewalt really is.
Nice work on the red hot poker for the bearing fit, will stow that for later. Another one I use a bit (mostly on Miele vacuum motors ) is a wrap of cellotape on the outside of the bearing before fitting it.

Hello, We are considering switching our tool platform from milwaukee to dewalt or makita.. For now we are thinking dewalt.. What are your thoughts on the 3 different brands in terms of quality of tools?
On the plainer you could had put cut ziptie around inside of the housing and melt it to make it fit better. Also, those plastic soldering irons might be a good idea to purchase.
From the looks of things, dewalt aren't what they used to be.
Dean, I enjoy watching you work on these tools. You show us the good, bad and the ugly manufacturers that make these tools.
nice work Dean…enjoy every video
1:07:14 I literally have a mittersaw just for firewood 🤣 it doesnt even have the guard
So would Bosch be your choice of tool?
I've fixed several low hours Dewalt corded grinders with collapsed bearings, poor quality control in the PRC, quick short term profit over customer care. In the end it will damage the brand identity, cheers
I will say it's a MOSFET problem, surely repairable, and generally it's two MOSFET, but if the coil is not bad it should work for a long time
Really Really tight, that's what she said.
Making sure you checked the blades on the planer made me laugh. Great video as usual.
I would get a new one unless i am out of warranty. Time is …. Knowledge is …..
What a nice wsy of fitting loose bearing.usually Adhesive compound was utilised. Thanks Mr Dean
good stuff Dean!
