  1. Have been cleaning motherboards with 0,30$ toothbrush for about 8 years at this point. What you are saying make sense, but over the period of 8 years noting bad happend to any motherboard I've cleaned. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

  2. Iโ€™ve never heard of esd. So youโ€™re telling me I risked multiple $1k+ laptops when I opened and cleaned them with whatever was laying around ๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. I work at a company that manufacturers electronics. The production floor has all the proper ESD protection gear from smocks, to ankle straps to specially grounded tables, bins and concrete floors because it directly impacts their yields and profits. I however, work in the R&D wing where I mostly deal with software on only a handful of DUTs and I won't even bother with anything more than the absolute minimum of ESD protection because the likelihood of breaking something with an ESD is miniscule and I personally wouldn't even hesitate about cleaning a single fan with a normal toothbrush. Proper ESD safety is mostly just a concern for people who handle lots of unshielded electronics everyday and the cost of equipment/infrastructure is offset by the slight increase to yields.

  4. In my experience you can absolutely use a toothbrush on most things.
But this video is correct, it will build up a small amount of charge so consider risk analysis:

The likelihood that you'll damage what you're working on is low so you need to ask yourself "can I afford to replace any chips that I might fry?"

  5. I used Canva Premium in school and I really loved it. I don't know if they had to pay for it but it was the perfect software for creating Slideshows and creating simple social media posts
