  1. Your presumption, and others, Blu-Ray is all but dead only assures it will be. The production industry has been killing innovation and the market, just as 8K was D.O.A.. The intent is for us to buy digital copies which we will never own, keep us on a subscription leash.

  2. I still have my panasonic blue ray. Last year I cut Comcast, Netflix and internet from my home.
As an experiment I cut my internet from my home too.
I bought a Atiop indoor antenna, and started watching my 450 DVD collection. Here's what happened.
My $289 cable and internet bill disappeared. Along with an $89 internet bill. The only investment I made was an indoor antenna for $89. And no advertisements to interrupt my movies.$ 3,468.00 in savings. Once a month I buy 2 dvds for under $10 to upgrade my collection. I don't stream nothing.
What got me to start this was the fact I noticed Amazon, Netflix had icons on Comcast. Also noticed great content was being removed and these services wanted me to pay extra for it. Who wants to pay $ 3.50 for a cowboys movie from 1948. I was double buying. I told my wife let's give this a shot and see if we miss anything. We can always reorder. She said ok. 1 year and 9 months and we haven't missed nothing. Infact we are having more fun than you can imagine. I took that high entertainment bill and invested it into my homeowners insurance which covered that saving me even more money by $1000 bucks more in my household. $4,368.00 in savings in one year.
Your probably saying don't you miss your internet at home. No not at all. I take my laptop and plug my phone into it and mirror my cell phone internet on it.
Consider this. Buy DVDs. They don't go bad. And they have perfect resolution and crisp picture quality. Why stream when you csn own. And never ever loose your content. Also you don't get burn in on your screen with DVDs.. And free 52 channel line up with local channels on my free indoor antenna, I can watch put law TV and grit TV and not pay a dime for nothing. 52 channels for free.
I have a top of the line Atmos thx 11-2 Yamaha reciever with klipsch speakers and 600 watts at 0.01 distortion. I'm grinning all the way to the bank. I stopped investing into streaming content and cable and internet throwing my money away and investing into entertainment equipment I can own. When I say my house rocks, That's an understatement. ❤

  3. Good job answering these questions. I think making a media center PC with a blue ray drive on board makes more sense than looking for a high end player. You could make use of the PC as a gaming and streaming platform too.

  4. What the streaming fans don't know are the extras on a physical disc. For instance, scenes cut from the movie or longer version of the scenes. Also, owning the show or movie means never having to worry about the service losing or the license running out and then deleting it from their catalog.

  5. If you review AV receivers, you should at least cover the Anthem AVM 90 because I have one and want to hear you say nice things about it lol. (Technically it's an AV processor but still…)

  6. Hilarious that people can go out and spend thousands on the top of the range screen, for the very best picture quality, yet are quite happy to feed it with sub standard source material.
A bit like the people who complain about 90s UI on a machine, yet are only interested in buying a budget machine anyway 🤣
I wonder how many people are actually getting confused between the user interface and the menu that is on the disc. We all know the reason why menus are crap on the discs because it takes up disc space and companies don't want to use three layer discs.
Here's a question that might make a good video: how many three layer discs lock up on current machines?

  7. In 2022 I bought a thrift shop Oppo, and have never had a more satisfying electronics purchase for the living room — especially considering I took a risk with second-hand. “RIP” from this channel and Vincent Teoh is well deserved. It’s such a pleasurable experience, from the remote control to the responsiveness to the PQ.

  8. Blu ray needs an upgrade. Full color gamut–100% or reality, not 110% of 75% more realer than real marketing ploys–8k and 16k resolution laser discs, full multichannel audio data, not codecs or format user lockdown, and no compression or lossy issues of any kind. 8k and 16k need to happen for 150 inch screens and mini 120 inch screens for projection, or sit back and squint at blocky pixels. 100 inch no longer exists as projection screen as tcl 98 inch is 1500 bucks. Collectors would love a forever 16k UHDlaser disc that does not have built in obseletion. Quality needs to be worth the inconvenience, or the product is ignored.

  9. I understand everyone loves steaming and the days of physical media such as DVD’s, CD’s, vinyl is out. But trust me we will regret this decision one day. Let your internet go out with no cell service just for only one day. can’t watch anything or play any music. Well it’s happen to me and I just pop in Movie or music.

  10. If you are really doing AV Receivers in the future at some point you will surely end up with one of the Denon to review. I hope you get the chance to try out Auro 3D in a proper Set up. 90 % of Dolby Atmos sucks but put it in Auro and it will blow your mind.

  11. Review the Denon AVR-A1H “The Beast!” It certainly fits in the same category as the Magnetar: a consumer product so ridiculous that it shouldn’t exist, but we’re sure glad that it does.

  12. Free your house of clutter and go 100% digital. Imagine if you had to order Blu-Ray disks of videos released by YouTubers and wait till you get them in the mail. YouTube proves that streaming is king.

  13. What people do not realize is that streaming movies and music by these companies is a cost cutting exercise and also that ownership of all movies and music remain the property of these companies and when these movies and music no longer generate acceptable revenues for them, they will remove these movies and music from their libraries. Gone, no more, kaput. And you will keep paying subscription fees which will be increased every so often and watch ads like on free tv.

  14. Haven't seen many people talking about quality of video and audio lately which makes finding this channel so comforting. Strange to think everyone was all in on DVDs, home theater setups and HD content (movies + gaming) only to leave everything behind and jump into mid-tier streaming. We had it all and didn't even know…

  15. My suggestion for the 6 per year is do two budget 7.2 ch models for the beginner, then two mid tier 9.2-11.2 ch models, then two hight end 13 ch and up models. So there’s a price point for everyone.

  16. I totally agree on the disc going out of style. I have one of those $600 $4K DVD players that I bought years ago. I never use it in fact it is not even hooked up at the moment. What makes streaming cool, is less wires. I am always looking for ways to clean up or get rid of wires that look ridiculous. TVs and amps come with few ports which means I need to buy clutter to hook things up. I have always said if you look at a smart phones it has everything you need in a clean package. If we could add or turntable, TV amps, disks…etc in one clean hub that would be cool. VHS, reel to reel and disks just take up too much space.

  17. For me it depends on the Bluray transfer, there are 4k blurays out there that look horrible compared to the 4k HDR WEB-DL's (Amazon makes the best imo). Look at the Aliens 4K Bluray, most hardcore fans hate that transfer and prefer the Hybrid rips without all the AI crap added.

  18. I still buy Blu-Rays if the movie interests me. I am kinda upset that some stores are starting to get rid of any physical content.
Which 4K Blu-Ray player would you recommend that won’t break the bank?

  19. For me, not only is streaming more convenient than physical media to get 90% of what the disk would provide, but it’s also always significant cheaper. It’s hard to compete disk vs streaming when I can get so close to disk quality while streaming AND it’s a third of the cost.
