  1. Congrats on the boots! The break-in period is tough, but they’re great boots. I bought a black pair about ten years ago, and lat year, I bought a brown pair (non custom). I didn’t have to wait for either pair. Once again, they’re great boots. I spotted them in your thumbnail.

  2. awesome boots if you like hiking with weights on your feet. Tech evolves. nearly every thru hiker finishes in Altras or hokas these days. These are a beautiful fetish though if you've got lots of money.

  3. I think most people would need therapy paying the prices commanded. I think the world’s best is a bit of a stretch considering there are a multitude of hand made manufacturers- I guess a nice hipster video can do wonders for an order book. For me, my Alfred Sargent Kelso Veldtschoen are pretty tough to beat or if your looking for a more Urban boot then Crockett & Jones Newport are very very good.

  4. guys… he's obviously not reading the comments. if he did he would have looked into better help by now and seen their shady and unethical business

  5. I'm breaking in my Swedish army boots, NOS from 1947. Have looked at the Swiss ones many times also. Great video! Also in the progress of breaking in two front quarter horsehide leather jackets from Aero so my whole body is a leather break in lab.

  6. It would be amazing to know how you store and organise all the footage that you have been recording all these years.
And how do you find the videos that you want ?

  7. I ordered a pair of boots from sutorial boot makers in flint Michigan. Artist is named Tim, he does the same thing and sews everything by hand. The boots are around $500 and I ordered mine took about 5 months! Kevin bacon also has a pair of his boots

  8. Great video. Very interesting and visually compelling story telling. A few tips to maintain the life of your boots longer because 3 boots wearing out in 17 years is not appropriate if you take good care of them and assuming they are made from actual quality leather. Use shoe trees, brush with a horse hair brush after every wear and condition the leather with a leather conditioner when they get dry.

  9. There's no way you dropped this video the day I finally perfected my new boots. Lost my "custom" (for someone else's foot) thrifted harness style Fryes in a brutal car fire. My brother offered to replace a pair. Took me a year to take him up on the offer but I did after seeing my good buddy's Irish Setter Marshall Lace ups. I instantly knew it was time to hit up my older brother.

Ordered a 9, I'm a firm nine in nearly every brand, but most importantly Adidas as its the only sneaker I wear and very average. Just too long.
I could feel in my soul an 8 would be slightly too small but the 8.5 also to be long, but worse news; I couldn't find a 8.5 to save my life. Personally reached out to the small business I ordered them from and we discussed other options, there are one or two other Square Toe Steel Toe Waterproof Laceups on the market but it's pretty niche at that point. He wasn't having it, he would get me a pair and it'll be within the month. He pulled through. Loved them immediately. Had a saga with getting the right replacement insoles for my embarrassingly dainty little feet. Long story shorty: Timberland pros were great for comfort and filling up the boot in a somewhat second sock way. I hope to love these for half a decade at least.

Anyone else enjoy this city bound cowboy look? Boot recommendations? Lace recommendations? God bless y'all.

Edit: Can't believe I didn't drop the info for my boot supplier. Lee at Pinecraftshoe (dotcom) down in Sarasota Florida. Highly recommend.

  10. Awesome…now I need custom boots…thanks for that. I suppose at least once in a lifetime you buy a top of any line custom shoe. Maybe one nice suit or jacket. Im a backpacker and feel very fortunate to having some of the very best gear. Kinda sucks to not need more.

  11. Van, would you consider making a video about your data/footage management explaining how are you able to go through all these hours of film to get the pieces you want? Or am I an ignorant and you have already explained that?
