  1. As a owner of the GBD200-9 I would like to add two frustrating points !
    THE LED !
It turns off when you cycle a menu…. So you sit in the dark and want to start a stop watch ? Welp. After each press the screen will go off. And you will have to press the light button again to see if your now in the right mode.

You cant see the past day steps. I want to be able to see how much steps I did yesterday for example. But no ! You need the app for that. Otherwise you can just see a % bar…

Love the watch ! And also got the nato adapters on the way. BUT COME ON

  2. First and foremost, arranging this with Tim (@goatreviews) was a great experience.
Everything was communicated clearly and I was able to give feedback on the unboxing video before it went live (not the review ofc.).
Shipping to and from Australia is very slow, so the piece isn't back yet but it will arrive soon enough.
Per my request the piece was shipped back after the Christmas peak, which allowed Tim a nice holiday break between the unboxing video and review, hence the large time delta.

2:52 It almost doesn't affect it, but the angle sensors have become very unresponsive, so the auto-light feature doesn't work.
But I've never used that feature anyway, the light button is more convenient most of the time.
The step counter is a separate acceleration sensor, which is contained inside an oil-proof chip.

5:08 You can use the repeat count setting to greatly reduce this clunk of repeating timers.
It's still clunky, but like the alarms, I've found it to be okay in use.
Unlike the coordinate setting and other slow incrementing, this aside the watch it's firmware is charmingly quirky IMO.
That said, I printed out and read the entire manual before my GBD-100 arrived and generally quickly intuit complex interfaces.

5:43 The vibration motor does spin slower from the oil resistance, along with the added mass in the watch dampening the vibrations.
You had noticed this, but misdiagnosed the cause to the plastic spacer I added to reduce the resistance from the oil on the weight.

8:05 Fully agreed, especially considering the GBX-100 is more expensive than the other models.
I'm lucky to have gotten a great deal on this piece on Ebay and the new GBD-100 I picked up before.
Personally I do not like the look of the GBD-200, having seen one in a store, but it's screen does look the best of the cheaper MIP line thanks to being closer to the crystal.

11:42 Oh yeah! I love how that looks and how the adaptors mix with the NATO hardware and bezel.
You made the right choices, I'd have picked the same and those adaptors beat what I'd 3D-print myself.
Once back I will put my own strap back on, as the Bond NATO is going on another, more Bond-y piece.
This I will share in your #wristcheck Discord channel, it'll make for an epic combination!

  3. Hmmmm, not a great fan of NATO straps, expecially with G-Shocks, it makes it thicker than it is… But good choice between those 3 NATO's, probably the best colour scheme.
And good choice for the adaptors too!
…I don't get the point to hydromod a watch like that, considering it will require a battery change every 1 year or 2 (depending if you use Bluetooth or not)… I can see the advantage on little and inexpensive watches like f-91W, but not on a G. Oh well, if he's happy with it, fair enough! 😄
You can use another app for the Bluetooth part (if you use an android phone), it's called Gadgetbridge, opensource and free. Some advantages: snappy, updated and you can set the repeat for the call alarms! (it will beep repeatedly whenever you receive a call).
Ah, for the air bubble, some watchmakers leave intentionally a bubble in the watch (look U-Boat from Italo Fontana for example), so… You have a design watch 😄

  4. Awesome review on the GBX-100! Thanks for bringing to light the lack of autoscroll on the coordinates without an app! Would you be reviewing the Lorus watch too? Looks like a digital Richard Mille 👍
