  1. Very cool series Richard that 1DX Mark III is a Gem what a find mate. Have been checking out the second hand market DSLR for my niece and like you say there are some beauties out there. Strange how bodies get replaced so quickly when some photographers including myself haven’t even fully mastered that model. I have four Canon DSLR’s in Gem ++ condition all with battery grips and LensCoat pro body bags for protection, one mirrorless R3 and can’t let them go 👍

  2. This is a great idea to review older second hand cameras and lenses. A lot of the YouTube photography content is just confined to the latest (and expensive) gear. I’m sure this is going to be very helpful to a lot of people.

  3. This will be a great series Richard! I am newish to photography and after doing a lot of research I decided that for my needs a good DSLR would work just fine. I recently bought a 5D Mark IV from MPB and it only had 15K clicks. It was an immaculate camera. But, I also bought a 7D Mark II from B&H and a 100-400 zoom lens from KEH and so far I have been happy with my purchases. I will say the MPB warranty impressed me and will probably go back to them in the future. I also think it is great that what you see on the site is what you get. I'm not sure the other companies do that.

  4. I almost went back from my 7Dc to the camera you are about to review. I was told there wasn’t enough of an upgrade to warrant the swap, so I waited, and waited, and waited……………. No 7D3 ever came, no R7 on the horizon, so I went the R6 route, mainly as it had same sensor/AF as a 1Dx3. I’m a happy R6 Mk1 owner.

  5. Richard, as a former owner of a Canon EOS 1D mark 3 and a Canon 1DS mark 3, to be honest I wouldn’t go back to those now, reason low light performance. The 1DS 3 was hopeless a high ISO’s, loads of noise and banding in the shadow areas and a pain to remove in post, the 1 D 3 struggled with af at times, but was marginally better in low light but not a patch on what is on offer today. Managed a great deal with London Camera Exchange in Lincoln and traded all my DSLR’s for an R3 and no regrets other than the eye watering price, but after 2 years of ownership, for me at least, a good decision and a nice partner for my R5. However I have contemplated a 1 DX2 or a 1DX3 as a blast from the past as I still have my EF lenses.

  6. Hi Richard great idea for videos, so you won't be going back to my Canon AE1 Programme that I still own 🤣🤣 one of my favourite cameras that I owned was the 1DX MK2, I kept that for 5 years, I did swap it for the MK3 but didn't see much difference, I now shoot the R3 and R5 and putting aside all the new features I don't see a massive jump in photo quality, I certainly don't buy into this mirrorless is so much sharper, all my DSLR's and lenses were focus matched by Canon UK, as a wildlife photographer the biggest upgrade going mirrorless is the shutter noise, those DX's sound like a machine gun and would quite often scare birds away that were close.
