  1. Glad to hear your voice again! Always some excellent insights that I always take into consideration. I'm glad to hear your thoughts on buying mics. I've tend towards new and I feel like that has worked quiet well for me. I'm glad to hear you don't think I'm wasting money!

  2. You really need to teach a course. Your sound knowledge in a nice packaged course would be money in the bank. Hell, I produce/direct/edit educational content for a company, so I'd even be game to help see this to fruition. You got a lot of gems in your vids.

  3. I got a new MKH-416 from B&H in 2017 for $600. Because it's B&H, I'm fairly confident that it isn't a counterfeit, but if it were I'm sure I wouldn't be able to tell. At any rate, it sounds good, so I'm happy.

  4. Woow I forgot that mic. I was own a CAD Equitek E200 modified to have better noice floor back I the days. Unfortunately some one stole it from me. But itā€™s was a really good microphoneā€¦

  5. Interesting, used microphones is a topic I've recently been thrust into. I've been working with this one band and we've been having trouble with the lead singer is microphone a Sennheiser 431 recently I got my hands on it to test it and immediately thought this thing weighs like nothing! Apparently they are semi light and plasticky, I still had to check it with a spectrum of pink noise. But still in the back of my mind i am wondering.

Of course musicians being what they are this one went out and bought a used microphone then it didn't sound right and they returned it and then they bought a new microphone. Without evaluating the signal chain and the crazy EQ that is on everything. So I don't know whether the new one sounded better because the old one was broken or we reset settings between.

So I generally don't like buying used unless I can be certain that it's something that's not somethings that can be degraded. I bought a used Thunderbolt Firewire dock and it worked fine for a while and I started having constant issues but I have nothing to compare to without buying another and they've been discontinued which is why I had to buy used in the first place.
On the other hand I don't like waste but not everybody treats their stuff as well as I do so it could be a gamble which is why I don't like to buy used but sometimes have to.
