sped up to 1.25x you sound exactly like andrew huberman
So my old 30 year coax cable that is 10mb will give me the faster speed?
so would i be able to use this as a modem replacement? and connect this device to a router?
Can I do with with T-mobile 5g home internet?
Freakin awesome Steve! Helpful vid! Keep it up!
Am I understanding this right, if I use an adaptor from let's say amazon and put it on the wall that converts coax to ethernet. Can I use my router only with the adapter?
Very helpful video. Wondering if this will work for me. I have coax ran to our shop about 100 ft from house. It's currently being used for Directv. I want to cut ties with Directv, but need internet in the shop to stream. (wireless wifi doesn't work because it's too far and too many concrete block walls to go through) Can I use a MoCA adapter and connect it to the existing coax, and then connect the wifi extender in the shop? Will the length of coax be an issue? Thanks in advance.
Quick follow up on this. 1st off, thanks for posting! 2nd, he's my current set up. Cable provider comes into house on the COAX. I then have to go from COAX to my modem and wireless router. So that's the set up I currently have and I want to come off the COAX in two rooms straight to ethernet. Is one of these sufficient in each room to achieve this goal? Plain and simple, I want to take my son's gaming computer OFF the Wireless and get him wired to the network directly. Appreciate the feedback!
It never crossed my mind convert my house' coax into Ethernet. However what I did was to use the tp-link AV2000 to convert current/power lines to Ethernet. What do you thingk about this conversation? Is it better to use the Coax-Ethernet option? I still have cable with Xfinity so I'm connecting their cable box from a wall coax. Thanks!
Do these products work through upstream and downstream splitters?
@steveDOES great movie yet small question. all my coax cable come out in the same place in the garage. For the moment there is a splitter on it from before I cut my cable where the main line would be split into 7. If i want to convert them to ethernet cables can i put this device before the splitter so that the ethernet is split over the 7 cables? or do i need to have 7 devices and do i put them al after the splitter? because then it would fastly become a expensive solution to provide ethernet in every room.
What do you think about power line adapters with Ethernet ports like the TP-link AV2000?
Where I live, the ISP uses coax cables by default, so I was pretty confused when I found out that it's not normal elsewhere.
I have CAT 5e in every room. What is better/faster? CAT 5e or Coax Cable?
Option I had not heard to avoid running Cat-6 to rooms that already have coax. It does require adding switches sometimes, but that's okay. Thanks!
the problem is with a modern home network structure, you likely want all the cable to go back to one location inside your house like a closet or a wall panel somewhere. Mine on the other hand all goes back outside where the main line from my provider comes into the house outside my garage. I don't want my network rack in my garage. Where I live is SUPER warm and humid and electronics will not do well out there. The best place would be an unused closet on the complete opposite end of the house, so I cant even use the old coax cable to fish through new Ethernet cable and even if I could, most builders clamp or nail cable to the framing of the house instead of being sensible and using conduit.
Very cool, thanks! Watched this, and walked around my house at 2 am like a psycho, only to realize i have no coax anywhere. Womp womp. I'll look for your mesh review though!
Do you have a video on how to disable my cable modem wifi? I have my own network router, but I wonder if the modem wifi is causing any interference and slowing down my ASUS mesh router. Thanks
That fish tank will eat the wifi signal and is a terrible place to put that thingy
Can you use a 4 to 1 coax splitter at the router? I have 4 coax cable runs and it seems like a lot of clutter at the modem.
Access points vs mesh! 🙏
I have a question; I live in a rented apartment, and there isn't much I can do or change. I would like to buy this MoCA device, but I have a doubt. If my internet provider uses coaxial cable, I have the modem in my room and the PC in the living room. The question is, to which coaxial cable should I connect the MoCA if I'm already using the output in my room to receive the internet signal?"
Question: why is the MoCA not appearing on TP-LINK’s Deco app as an Ethernet attachment; my other devices do
at 7:27 when you're pluggin the coax in, what is the other side connected to? I'm a bit lost at this point unless you have another adapter for the other end.
I am just learning about this from you and very excited to do it but I have a question. I'm going to get the Deco XE75 3-pack so does that mean I'll need 6 adapters total for the wired backhaul?
I can not find a straight answer to this question anywhere… at the begining of this video, I thought you said you were 😞 How do I get 5G WIFI from a FIOS coax cable? My FIOS moden/router is to old. I can not seem to find a coax cabled FIOS router that will give me 5G WIFI.
So my question is if my router that my provider installed is already using coax can i use one screen beam in my room or would i need to run one at the router and one in my room?
Great vid! question: I have two homes on my property. I want to connect two routers to two locations connected to the same internet connection.
The main home has main internet connection. The second home (mobile home) has the coax connection. Will this give me the solution that I am looking for two separate both routers to two homes connected to one network? Will this also give me two separate SSID?
any insight is appreciated!
Ethernet over coax was a godsend for my gaming PC. I was using powerline adapters and only got about 80 mbps over powerline. On these my speeds went to 300-380 mbps (on a 300 plan) so it's basically the same as ethernet.
How do you install those cables on a trailer home
Great video. I have the same set up as you except my extender is Eero. My cable modem is in the basement. I was able to find the coax to my office which is upstairs. I can see on the Eero app that it is wired to the right room. Unfortunately it is only modestly boosting the speed. I don't think the connections are off so I am trying to figure out why there is no appreciable increase. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
What do you need the splitter for? Also, if I have a current mesh system and i want to plug a few of them in by ethernet through coax, will they still function properly like a mesh system or will they behave like independant access points?
Excellent videos.. Clear and concise!
Steve, your videos are great! I've been frustrated by the interior coverage of Verizon FiOS wifi in my home. I don't have a ton of devices, but smart TV coverage is the most frustrating. Typically only have one TV on at a time and distance from that to a FiOS repeater is not more than 35 feet (same level of the house with almost direct line of sight). Instead of renting a second extender from FiOS, I'm thinking mesh wifi. My big question is do I still need the FiOS proprietary modem/router as the initial node in the network? I have bundled TV/Internet/Phone. I'm also considering cutting the cord on TV and going Internet/streaming only but have a lot more research to do on that. Thanks!
Nice tank, Pretty sure the anemones don't really need wifi.
How to makeshift this idea for a privatize HAM radio signal transmission. Is it possible like using the wifi amplifiers, Ham/GMRS radios, and a makeshift middle set repeater set. Can you help me put this idea together?
Your thumbnail is a lie. You should a nice clean outlet but in reality is a wiring tangled mess with crap everywhere. Nice try.
IMPORTANT : The coax cables are not very reliable. Very often, if you see some deconnection but at the same time your modem and router are fine, it is most probably interferences from the coax cable. Make sure it is tight and has no open copper/aluminium parts that can act like antennas for interferences. Especially for Samsung Hub, which is very sensible to that.
