  1. If people were allowed a spray on how would that be controlled? Like what if one person sprayed one layer and another guy sprayed three layers on..if that’s even possible. I would think hard to regulate? LOL!!!

  2. Im guessing the silicone gel type material was added for couterbalancing the heavy 20m core head and also provide vibration dampening. Probably a contributing factor to the super plush feel of the Luxx.

There is a company marketing replacable grit top layers for various paddles. Chris Olsen and Will covered them a few months ago.

Keep up the great content Ed!

  3. Some form of silicon sealant to prevent the flow of material into the hollow handle, it won’t be the same in every paddle since it doesn’t have a function other than for sealing, IMHO. The fabrication of the upper part with the type of materials used is taking care of the dampening and the fact that handle is hollow. It’s a pretty impressive fabrication. Hitting the face of the paddle w/ the hammer caused puncture and not delamination. Delamination happens when layers (ply) of thin composite such as carbon fiber or fiberglass separate from each other, or when it peels off the substrate to which it adhered to.
I play with the Control Air Invikta and I’m very happy with how it performs, smart fabrication!

  4. This technology is being used for many years in marine industry to build boats, and also furniture for boats and airplanes and so on. Most companies just cut the paddles out of those panels(building material)! and charge oblivious pickleball players ridiculous money for it. And that's why the rule book is so specific about the materials, somebody is getting rich and that's why the referees are always favoring the sponsored players using the suspiciously imperfect rules from the same book. Some arrogant players shamelessly use it for their advantage:

I'm using that example because it was good match and also the "hard work" of the reffs to keep the #1 player in tournament (more viewers = more $) didn't work that time.🤣🤣🤣

  5. The soft material in the handle is probably intenttional for DAMPING – providing a softer feel. Otherwise the hollow hard handle will vibrate quite a bit. Also probably for the balance. So the Q is whether the Power Air vibrates more which it hits the ball….
