  1. I just got a couple types of DS' for really cheap on ebay. All classified as broken or for parts.I think i got this reccomended for me specifically because i looked up how to replace each one lol.

Im not a beginner to repairs, but they honestly werent that bad. As long as youre not physivally ripping anything apart and gently removing ribbon cables as you go, its fine. Took me under an hour to replace the top screen & speaker on a ds lite, about 2 hours to replace a cracked new 3ds xl screen. And lile 30 mins to replace the original ds' both screens. Its a little challenging, but not impossible or anything :/

  2. This is definitely not something I'd recommend doing as your first attempt to repair, but there are literally millions of these, and if you screw up the first time, you can just try again.

  3. me before watching this video: waiting for a reason not to change the top screen on my Nintendo DS/3DS
me after watching this video: still waiting for a reason not to change the top screen on my Nintendo DS/3DS

  4. So true but this was basically the first thing I ever learned ro repair.. I’ve got clumsy and still haven’t failed screen replacements.. I even messed up a mother board by touching it and still haven’t messed up screen replacements

  5. one week late for me… worst thing is that I didn't even change the screen. I just wanted to plug it in and out to see if that fixes it, and I ended up breaking the power switch and the bottom screen won't turn on, so it just turns off inmediatly… And I damaged the shell and the tri-wing screws, too.

  6. 1st time changing my top ds screen, I broke the ribbon cable. 2nd time I learned my lesson and I'm confident that I can do it again.
Yeah you can just buy another ds, but not in my area where these consoles are very rare, but expensive and hard to find. You gotta fix it no matter what.

  7. What do you think about replacing the 3ds xl or new 3ds xl shells? I'm sure the bottom is easy but how is the top? I ordered some replacement shells for my 3ds xl, and I might do it for my other new 3ds xl

  8. And what do you think about replacing the top screen lens of a new 3ds xl?
I bought a dual IPS new 3ds xl but there is a diagonal scratch right in the middle of the top screen.
I hesitate between doing it myself or pay a repair shop to do it.

  9. Why isn’t a Ds lite a gods place to start? You can get them broken for like $15-20 and the screens are like $10, if you fail it’s only $30 lost, which from the price of other consoles isn’t that bad. Plus if you buy everything again, it’s still only about the price of a working one, and you now have some experience with electronics

  10. Totally agree with you. Even repair shops can't do it properly. I wasted 2 screen (top and botton) until I managed to do it successfully. I think I can do it again now that I have the experience, but it is so frustrating and annoying that I'd rather sell and buy a good unit, lol!

  11. I agree I broke my Mario Edition Nintendo DS lite hinge back when I was a child I tried fixing it but it was very difficult to replace. I just threw a battery at the screen when I made the hinge worse anyway and bought a new one after lol
