Did you use a diamond drill bit?
Where was this when I was drilling. I would pour water put a paper towel so it wouldn't splash. Then dip the bit in water on off.
Great idea I like it keeps the bit wet and hardly no accumulated dust
I'll never drill a hole in any top anymore, if you crack it you bought it
They sell kits with sticky pads that hold water
Work great, but they literally make a tool for it, also use multiple hole saw bits, get the one that fits the hole already there and then the one you need it keeps it dead center
Thereโs some piece of equipment thatโll do it slightly better. But you applied physics and hydro physics in this method. This is as good as itโs gonna get.
Finally a use for plumbers putty ๐๐
That putty trick is neat. I've never had to use it yet, but I hope to one day. And I'm a countertop guy.
I worked for a contractor for 2 days, he used a car scissor jack to lift a granite countertop to try to separate the InSinkErator from the bowl piece on the bottom of the sink and cracked the countertop. I needed to separate myself from him so when he got sued I didn't get sued with him
I like it
Absolutely, I have done that many times. Just put a bucket under the hole. I also just use a bucket of water er to flush out the drain
Use your grinder you could put one of those bids on it
Dust going down the drain
Brilliant!
When drilling I use an angle grinder with a drill bit instead as it gives much higher rpm than a drill
What did u use a wood bit?..took a long time
That is fking genius idea. Love it man. As a master plumber with almost 20 years of plumbing experience, I really like this idea.
You can put the small size hole saw inside your new bigger size hole saw & cut. Saves putty & time
I like that onl reason to have putty on my Mercedes
use gloves when handling plumbers putty, itโs very toxic and absorbs through the skin
I use this little blue guide that holds water while I drill through. Has a double sticky tape on the bottom to keep from moving and only need like a half cup of water or less. Is in the mason/floor tile section at Home Depot for like $15-20. I use putty to surround it like you did after I run out of the little sticky tape. Good job though, way to think through
I got expensive counter tops, you can do whatever you got to do as long as you don't fuck them up.
Works great as long as you donโt run water into your drill vents
Sponge in the drill bit
That is a great idea works better than the kits they make for that Iโm going to do that next time .best thing I seen on here for a long time good thinking
Interesting use of plumber putty. Not something i would expect to be done tbh but it does get the job done
Thats a good idea
you can nest multiple hole saw bits. So take the one that matches the existing hole nest it inside the bit for the new hole. you then keep the same center and can go straight down.
What drill bit were you using? That was a damn good idea.
What a creative way to keep the bit cool
