  1. The captains courses are all well and good especially for a couple with zero experience and suddenly finding themselves on their own vessel/home. Insurance company is going to be looking for those experience hours. Might pick a destination and then post up on one of the many sailing social media forums and see if you can find either a captain or if the insurance company will allow it, a sailor with a lot of experience willing to act as a captain. Second option and you might get away without having to pay a captain's salary, MAYBE. I have a profile on Co-boaters (as crew) and there are a lot of experienced sailors on that forum.

  2. I hate to break it to you guys but I think we might need more frequent updates. Even if it’s more raw content. I’m just really eager to follow this journey and the wait in between is killing me.

  3. patrick looks so handsome with his headlamp 🙂 great to see yall thriving out there on the boat and dealing with the challenges as they arise. more wagon in the next video please

  4. Did you guys check all insurance companies? We bought a sailboat with no experience and we didn't have any requirements like you have. We went with State Farm. Good luck on your adventures! 🙂

  5. Hi, you guys have what I believe to be the most important ingredient for a sailing channel, you are likeable. I think some of the big boys are loosing that and I do not watch as often. Keep it up, you are appreciated.

  6. Mini tip… spray or brush on lacquer on the brass, it'll save you from having to use Brasso every few weeks/months. Loving the project so far & looking forward to when you can get sailing 🙂

  7. Great content, im happy that i found your channel and i can start the journey with you from home. I really love that you just throw whatever happen into the video and make it less staged like many other channels out there. Remember that the mosquito's love your smell 😀 Love you folks, greetings from germany.

  8. unlaquered brass looks cool either way. I'm actually a big fan of aged unlaquered brass and have replaced most switchplates and doorknobs in my home with it, loving it when its new but more as it ages and tarnishes.

  9. Michaela you are not crazy as a person that has been boating of over 45 years you are not crazy. I have a sail boat and a power boat. I keep one in FL and one in NY long island sound. This is the first video I have watched that you have. What type of sail boat do you have. I did not see your first two Eps. Safe sailing.

  10. Most schools would be affiliated with ASA, US Sailng and perhaps some other that I'm not familiar with. They all would have 3 level training courses. I've taken mine through J Would in Annapolis, working with US Sailing. They offer Basic Keel boat, Intermediate Keel boat and Cruising. All are combinations of hands-on practical lessons and exams. The Cuising part is literally a 7 day cruise with a captain, where the first 6 – is a learning/practice and 7th day – is the exam. At the end, you receive a log booklet with fancy stamps for each of the courses you've completed. That booklet makes you a captain and allows to charter boats anywhere in the would and be your own captain. Find a sailing mentor with actual experience of sailing. I would also suggest get a membership with a company doing boat deliveries, like offshore Passage Opportunities, and sail and ask questions and learn. This way you'll get sea sick and learn to deal with it, while someone else can take care of sailing part safety for all involved. Good luck and have fun by doing wise and right ⛵️

  11. What happened to the gasket between the large part on the bottom of the sink?
Sometimes it’s easier to take the items off the wall before you polish the part. That food looked good.

  12. You guys are on your way to an incredible adventure. I am sure you know that there is a "Young Cruiser's Association" the has quite a few members in the area. You should join up with them. They are not only a fantastic social group but a great resource for new travelers. Never be concerned about asking fellow boaters for advice or a helping hand. There are many of us who greatly enjoy spreading the joy of the sailing experience.
I am looking forward to following your future trials and tribulations.
