This was a pretty involved fix, more than I was expecting when I started on it. Isn’t that always the case? I got it done though, and also fixed several other problems like the thumb, side cutter, and grease zerks.

  1. Great Video, well beyond my pay grade and shop tools however for my Deere 50D…what do you use as a cutting fluid?
Re: the track controls, my Deere 50D has pedal extensions that flip out towards the operator and extend the pedals for travel away from the mains, possibly you could equip something similar.
Re: the weld beads on the sides of the bucket are actually wear strips, they are sacrificial metal to save excessive wear on the bucket.

  2. Drill a line of holes in the rock, maybe 2" apart. pound in tapered pins or punches in all the holes. Just keep sequentially hammering in on the pins, eventually the rock will split in a line along the holes. OR build a bon fire on top of the rock, 8 hours or more, clear off the rock and throw buckets of ice water on it, hopefully it will crack.

  3. I should remember the name of the "Non Destructive Blasting?? Drilling a series of holes into the rock letting the grout expand and break the rock. Likely expensive?? But all I can come up with??
Nebour many years ago worked on a granite rock for some weeks multiple fires/ with then water to shatter it?? It did end up below the surface. That was almost 60 years ago.

  4. Jon you had it all apart and pressure washed, so why not paint it while you're at it, I'm surprised, well I'm about half way through video so maybe I spoke too soon.

  5. If we could get you milling skills to match your welder settings then you would have the same precision. Welder needs higher voltage than the chart shows to wire speed 💯 helps

  6. John, you could've had fun with Dynamite on that rock. My Dad used to drill holes and pack them with Dynamite. He'd blow up rocks and stumps all the time, but he always told ME to drill holes and wait until winter to fill them with water and let nature do the work. Another fun video watching all the machining but I am glad you did the tail end with the rock and stump to give it the final purpose. I always look forward to you videos. ben/ michigan

  7. If in medieval Europe, there was a boulder too big to move or a castle wall in the way,
they simply made a big bonfire all around it & let it burn for a few days.
Then they filled a huge wooden barrel with cold creek water & completely obliterated the boulder / castle wall.

  8. How 2 destroy a rock/boulder without a rock crusher or tnt? Get a drill, thick rubber "blankets" a hammer a steal rod the same diameter as the drill hole & blank cartridges, now drop them in the hole u just drilled lower ur steal rod in ther & give it a good hit with ur hammer, job done. Don't for get the RUBBER blanket cuz without them, rock pieces will violently fly in all directions.

  9. would the expanderbolt system fixed the issue whit the egg hole? or to far off maybe?
😂🤣by som Wedeges for stone splitting 12 or 18mm u would be done in 30 min on that rock…..they are cheap and effective… god work 🙂

  10. Amazing video, you got me with the math to heat/freeze and install the bushing. You for sure have the tools to fix just about anything that breaks down on a farm, which is just about everything on mine. I wish you lived close my farm, I would pay you to fix my sloppy excavator bucket. Great job and very interesting video!
