I'm a Mad Catz survivor. PSX controller
And yet, I still have my "Advanced Control Pad" for the SNES (a MadCatz-controller) that I still prefer to the original SNES controller because it's much easier to grip for me with my large hands and because I personally enjoy the way the D-Pad is constructed.
I have the steering wheel but didnt use the pedals. I would calibrate the gas and reverse button to the shifter. Then I would drive around los santos in my bobcat truck in first person view. I played hundreds of hours with it.
I worked at a mom and pops game shop, and they ordered madcatz as quality game pad alternative. Its so bad that at least for ps2, the bootleg ps2 style pads fly off the shelves much faster being at least half the price but performs much closer to the original pads.
I have the Gamecube Micro Controller and it's actually always been a great controller. I didn't have issues wave dashing in brawl with it either.
Maybe I just got lucky with mine, but it was actually more responsive than my original controller.
I had a chrome PS1 controller as a kid like it wasent plastic or metal it was weird material but the thing used to shock my hands it was crazy
I had a mad catz GameCube controller that lasted 10 years before it stopped working. I liked it because it was translucent
anyone want to buy my ps1 madcats steering wheel and pedals?
Meanwhile me clicking this video with MadCatz RAT8+ADV…
In all honesty: I don't know what else you expect from the cheaper controller. It is cheaper quality, so price can be lower. If the quality was better the price would have to go even above original controllers for the same quality. That's just business 101.
So Saitek got matcatzed? Ok, explains a lot…
When I got my first console (A Christmas present), a Wii (It had been out a few years at this point), my parents realised only 1 Wii remote came with the set, so they got a Mad Catz remote so we could play games together.
Never worked. Not once. Ended up bringing it in to Design & Technology class so we could break into it and see how it 'Worked'
Where was the Street Fighter 4 controllers ???
my matcatz wheel still works fine, the weird part it…the shifter..doesnt has buttons, you pull it back or forth to change, very good sensitivity for gt3
One useful thing Mad Catz provided in the 360 era was the fact their controller PCBs were usually common-grounded among all the buttons. Was ideal for soldering wires and building home-made arcade controllers.
At one point Gamestop tried to sell crap brabded controllers that seemed to be made by or the same quality of MC I typed literally right before you mention it mad cats didn't think people dropped their controllers, they knew people were throwing them ….. in the trash.
No joke, You kinda look like Paul Anka in his younger years
My friends GameCube controllers all eventually broke after a couple years.
Thanks, for putting this together. I think this is a cautionary tale, for consumers, and third-party peripheral developers, alike. And, quite honestly, someone had to do this overview, if for no other reason, than to protect future consumers, and show potential third-party peripheral developers, what happens, if you cheat your customers. So, thank you, again!
Just look online for the pa1 mad cat controller in blue and red
They should have made a Jaguar controller.
You know it’s funny. I used to work in a retro game store and we sold 3rd party stuff all the time and every time a customer would ask about the quality of these 3rd party controllers. I would tell them you remember mad catz ya know the little brother controllers? Yea these aren’t like that at all these are actually well designed controllers for collectors not little brothers and younger cousins. Funny now I’m watching rerez talk about them
Mad cat vs mad dog
I've heard of the rat mouse. to think they took the company mad catz and turned it into rats, amazing 😂
Mad Catz? More like Sad Catz. Glad I never fell for this company's adverts.
madcatz business model: a ducker is born every day, so sell our entire stock
I actually liked my mad catz wireless gamecube controller, but it did fall apart pretty quickly
bro the weird thing was when sf 4 came out madkatz where selling sticks for hundred of dollars, i have no idea how they managed it with there awful reputation
It was also the little sibling controller too!
ngl the beginning of the video seems like a skill issue
1) madcatz were everywhere because they were the best quality third party controllers, an admittedly low bar
2) every third party N64 controller was junk
3) the playstation controller was fine and the extra bulk in the grips worked nicely. this style did not go as well for the gamecube version.
the definitive "little sibling controller"
had a mad at for pretty quite a few consoles, ps1, 2 and n64
This video brought up some painful memories I had long forgotten 😂 I've been put off third-party controllers all together thanks to mad catz. They knew their products were pure garbage so they can suck it & deserved their downfall.
Anyone ever get Pelican game controllers? I've come across a few that I initially thought were Mad Catz until I took a look at the logo, I think there was possibly a controller that lit up inside with a see through kinda foggy green shell for original XBox. Although I could be wrong about that I do know that the Pelican controller seemed a little better for whatever reason, for all I know it was made in the same place with the same parts but just had a different name plate.
😅👍
HMV starting selling PS1 Mad pads at half price if you bought a PS1 game, possibly to get rid of them. All it did was randomly crash the PS1 and I had to switch the PS1 off to resolve the issue as the reset button did nothing when pressed! Never again would I buy a Mad pad for any machine.
I've had a gamecube storage from madcats thats worked for 15 year so it must be a miracle.
I had a Mad Catz PS memory card that corrupted and would cause false controller input. Great stuff.
Haa! 1:03:03
I remember back when all this Rock Band stuff was popping off they made a TV series like American Idol + Battle of The Bands using Rock Band™ games and gear. It only lasted 1 season and I don't really know anyone that watched it, but at the time it seemed like it was maybe going to be around for a while and then it was gone.
We had a full Rock Band set and my friends and I all played until one night nobody really felt like it anymore, the overall interest in the product lasted about 5-6 months between a group of 10-12 people that either lived there or frequently visited or stayed over. After that the crap was just in the way for years, constantly getting shuffled around in the closet to make room for things we actually used.
The good old days…?
😅👍
you didnt buy madcatz ur parents did because everything was crazy overpriced
My first PS2 controller was a Mad Catz. And it was because it was gifted to me new by my grandparents before I even had a PS2. Surprisingly though, I loved that controller. IT was so much more comfortable than a normal PS2 controller. And it worked fine. For about a year…. The Joystick went funky and I had to toss it. Anyway, perhaps you might wanna review Hyperkin products. I bought two of their USB Hyperkin Scout SNES controllers for emulation. And both of the Hyperkins bugged out, and refused to function correctly when programmed. So I tried buying a brand new one. And it wasn't even the one in the picture I ordered. Turns out they replaced it with a newer model that feels worse. I got fed up, and decided to try an experiment where I took the guys from a USB INEXT SNES controller, and swapped it's board into the Hyperkin shell. And it worked. And it's my go-to USB SNES controller. Works excellently. And just from a board swap. I even made a video showing how I did it.
I had a Mad Catz keyboard. Didn't last long.
