not sure if there is a github style site for science papers (embedded in Jupyter notebooks for example) but then originators could share their paper as open source and readers could submit pull requests, fork, etc or execute clone commands and bypass the expensive research paper gatekeepers? just a thought… sort of peer to peer…

It is so sad that Anaconda is no longer free for academic institutions 😐
My whole institute is now going through migration to alternatives and we're wasting so much developer time that could have been used for doing actual science.
I can understand that funding is needed, but targeting scientific institutions goes against the spirit of open source.
