“Retro Game Corps”

Against all odds, the Anbernic RG Cube has won me over. It’s an excellent retro handheld for many use cases: GB/GBC, classic 4:3 systems, SNES, Pico-8, vertical arcade games, GameCube & PS2 — the list goes on. In this video we’ll take a deep dive into the good and bad of this device and help…

  1. Those red buttons were disgusting.. it looks like a cheap plastic toy. But damn, that white version is beautiful… it suddenly looks like it's worth the price.

  2. Russ, broham. A quick dumb question for you. Finally pulled the trigger on getting the steam deck (over the Odin 2, for my retro gaming. I'll still get the Odin. But really wanted the steam…🤫) my question (s) I ordered the 512gb, should I even bother switching the SSD to a 1TB, or should I just get a 1TB micro SD card? 2nd question (sorry) Is your set up still on point? Or is there more to do besides your tutorial? Much appreciated!!!🙏🤘🤘🤘 PS. I have up gaming back in the late 90's to raise a family. Now that my job is almost done, I wanna get back to it, on my ever growing free time! 50 years old, I may be getting old, but I'll never stop being a kid!!!

  3. As a non techie person…can I install EmuDeck on this and have it pull and set all the emulators and ES-DE like on my Steam Deck? Fingers crossed its that easy.

  4. Still holding out for this screen, d-pad centric controls and a Linux OS. Have the RGB30 and it’s given me nothing but problems. And when it does work it’s a torch that gets really hot. Would probably pick this up if it a decent d-pad but the one is has is just bad.

  5. I hope someone makes a 3D-printed back for these that omits those ergonomic hand bumps. The real win of this would be if it were more pocketable and portable. I prefer the grips on cases to play at home or more extended travel where I could throw it in a bag. I like the core device to be easily concealable in my pockets for daily carry.

  6. It's really not a good look for Anbernic, providing PowKiddy quality at Anbernic prices. I have PowKiddy and Anbernic devices, and when I buy a PowKiddy device, I know I'm giving up some build quality in exchange for a better price, and maybe a neat quirk I like. If I want something that I can have faith will be solid and good, I go with Anbernic.

Between those cardinal-snapping, practically digital sticks, and the light bleed on the screen, I'm not impressed. Not for the price. Maybe closer to $120, but not $169. That said, I really hope they use basically the same case, maybe swap the D-Pad and left stick positions, for a Linux handheld.

  7. Hey I’m pretty new to the retro gaming scene and it’s so cool to see how much info there’s out there. I recently bought a RG35XX Plus and am loving it for my old games, but I’m looking for something else to play mainly psp through Wii/gc/ps2 games exclusively on, what’s the best plan of attack?
Android phone? (If yes what chipset)
    Retroid pocket 4 Pro?
    Looking between 100-200$
    Plz lmk.

  8. Yeah there was some light bleed on my rgb 30 but not really noticeable when playing a game. For the price and with the brightness adjusted its OK for a first console.
I would not accept it at a higher price point though

  9. I love the form factor. I've always wanted to see a smaller device with some ergonomic bumps (and love the Sega style dpad). If they release a 4" 4:3 version I'll definitely be a buyer.

  10. This device is so tempting, but I am going to stick with my RGB30 for now since I mostly want it for GB/GBA and SNES/Genesis. So the cost savings makes sense for me.

I've also been able ti mitigate the battery problems by installing ArkOS, which seems to drain battery slower, but I take advantage of the "Quick Mode" with R3 + Power (the boot up time is quick enough to use this regularly). Now I hardly need to charge it at all compared to before.

I'll be keeping my eyes on the next "generation" of these handhelds though. A 4:3 smaller handheld that can handle PS2/GCN is what I am keeping an eye out for (with the power of the RP4 or better, since my SMT games run poorly on most handhelds).

  11. atp i jusrt watch ur videos for entertainment i dont even care what the device is. i have an odin 2 and its like is it better? oh no? welp its a retrogamecorp video so ill just listen while i work

  12. Its a great device for dual screens like 3ds or nds!! I used to hate swapping screens and left right screen orientation… now i can align them up-down orientation.
