  1. I feel like I will love this civ! The "svan tower" looks similar to Ballista tower in AOE1. I had seen this idea mention in a custom build (Mantis, not to name him – though I don't write this comment on his behalf).
I could see the meta for this civ being setting up farmers around fortified churches with hussar spam (note: I don't know yet what Hera has said on those civs – will watch later)

ah, also: does Aznauri affect cav archer as well? It probably doesn't but if it did, cav archers would suddenly become a more intriguingly interesting option!

  2. They mess up really heavily on these civilizations. Georgians are great and well designed but the Armenians make no sense and the Persian rework is awful. I was hyped but now I know that I won't pay for that.

  3. Oh Hallelujah God Three in One is good. I have been asking for about 5 years for this DLC and now it will be a reality. Jesus hears our prayers.

Both having access to the ‘’Fortified Monastery’’ is amazing. I am so excited.

This is how I shaped the DLC:

I really like the civ bonuses ,GOOD WORK DEVS!!!

I just really need better architecture for the Caucasus civs, A dedicated Caucasus architecture for Georgia and a blend of Caucasus / ME sandstone architecture for Armenia. And I can't stress enough how badly Sassanid Persia should retain the Sandstone architecture !!

I see Armenia has the ''Mountain Archer'' UU of my DE2 Ancient build. I would love it if we get the Nakharar infantry that can scale walls as well.

Perhaps the Warrior Priest is supposed to be the Nakharar .

Please give the Armenians access to Camels!!

This DLC will be perfect as long as Armenia gets the UU-Nakharar (Naxarar):Mountain sword Infantry. Average in combat (Without relics) , strong against buildings , high pierce armour with a large shield on the back that can bypass a cities walls much like a siege tower (without the need for the tower) . Is unaffected by murder holes thus takes no damage when at the base of an enemy defensive building. (Except TCs) Fast training/Short Training time. " Armenian soldiers used iron hooks to help them climb fortification walls, and large leather shields to protect them from anything that would be dropped from above."Good unit for raiding walled cities.

The chosen Armenian campaign pales in comparison to the best option for a Armenian campaign. It should 100% have been the campaign following Vardan Mamikonian † 450 AD in his struggle against the Sassanid Perian invaders. Battle of Avarayr 451 AD is considered one of the first battles in defence of the Christian faith.

New Sassanid Persians with their Cataphract Savar Paladin is sensational!!! Thank you devs, thank you so much for the Savar ,for keeping the African/ME War Elephants and for the better Imp UT.

I see the projectiles not as bullets, but as a mangonel lobbing several projectiles at the approaching enemy. Brilliant work here devs.

I just don't like the (Indian) Sassanian Architecture, I much prefer the Sandstone architecture.

I would love to have Sassanid Persia (Early to high pre gunpowder civ) get sandstone architecture as well Kwarasmian/Safavid Persians (High to late Post gunpowder civ) (Green) CA Architecture.

This is how I would create the Persian Split:

    Bring back Saracen Zealotry!!

‘’Counterweights’’ tech gets replaced by a new tech; Arabian horses +10% cavalry speed. Affects Kurdish,Egyptian, Himyarite and Berber Allies as well. (Cavalry not Camelry) + no Hand Cannoneer

I am so excited. I truly thank the devs for heeding my call.

(Please give us a cosmetic DLC with civ accurate unit skins and architecture selection)

I hope some of the proceeds for the DLC can go to aid the displaced Chrisitan Armenians from Nagorno Karabakh.

  4. If with appropriate numbers, the unique unit should trade about 1:! with fully upgraded Paladins. Their 8 total melee armor means they'll take 10 per hit and thus need 11 hits, this will in practice be 12 if they get a single point of regen in. Meanwhile their 22 attack vs 5 melee armor means they do 17 per hit killing a paladin in 11 hits. Once they suffer losses and aren't getting max bonus anymore they'll start losing but even no bonus would have them take down Paladins in 14 hits while still taking 12. For a unit that is strictly cheaper in cost and to tech into, and which I assume is slightly faster than knights being a 'medium' cav unit will slightly out run knights, that's pretty solid.

  5. I have to wonder how the Fortified Church bonus works with farms. If it doesn't improve the farm's work rate, then it wouldn't really help farmers (outside of removing inefficiency from farms that are further away from a mill)

  6. This is not going to be a defensive civ. It is going to be offensive with towers and castles because of the repair and uphill defense. They will win every scout fight and scouts will pester villagers everywhere but especially farms around the TC because they can just run away. The point is to force a garrison, or get a pick off and run off to heal. Repairing towers at 1/2 resource cost is going to guarantee early battles which are easily won. The monospa is too cheap on gold. They will also dominate neutral resources with castles and fortified monestaries.

  7. One thing I'm seeing from this is possibly a weakness to xbow and in particular arb – their cav is pretty susceptible to pierce with base 5/2 for elite and 3/2 for non elite, no paladin and no final archer armour for skirms… Relying on siege or defensive buildings is possible, but feels strange paired with cav mobility – do you see a clear answer to archer play with this civ?

  8. Really loving the Georgians here. Cavalry and Defensive was basically how I was when I first started playing Aoe2. And I really like the aesthetics of the Fortified Church and the Castle and the Mule Cart unit itself. I'm definitely going to love these guys. Not sure if they'll take the place of Byzantines as my preferred civ, but we'll see.
