  1. Another way to explain Ilya behavior is to assume he sees AI as a sentient being they created and the argument was about why Altman refuse to see their AI same way. But Altman's behavior endangered AI existence – maybe in the way he almost moved everything to microsoft, simultaneously almost destroying openai or just by having the only instance of AI on a "thumbdrive" as a hostage – it's not illegal to do this, but to a person who treats AI as a being/child – this have same consequence. This would explain Ilyas sudden changes of publicly shown attitude towards Altman.

  2. ★: I believe we are meant to be like Jesus in our hearts and not in our flesh. But be careful of AI, for it is just our flesh and that is it. It knows only things of the flesh (our fleshly desires) and cannot comprehend things of the spirit such as peace of heart (which comes from obeying God's Word). Whereas we are a spirit and we have a soul but live in the body (in the flesh). When you go to bed it is your flesh that sleeps but your spirit never sleeps (otherwise you have died physically) that is why you have dreams. More so, true love that endures and last is a thing of the heart (when I say 'heart', I mean 'spirit'). But fake love, pretentious love, love with expectations, love for classic reasons, love for material reasons and love for selfish reasons that is a thing of our flesh. In the beginning God said let us make man in our own image, according to our likeness. Take note, God is Spirit and God is Love. As Love He is the source of it. We also know that God is Omnipotent, for He creates out of nothing and He has no beginning and has no end. That means, our love is but a shadow of God's Love. True love looks around to see who is in need of your help, your smile, your possessions, your money, your strength, your quality time. Love forgives and forgets. Love wants for others what it wants for itself. Take note, true love works in conjunction with other spiritual forces such as patience and faith (in the finished work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, rather than in what man has done such as science, technology and organizations which won't last forever). To avoid sin and error which leads to the death of our body and also our spirit in hell fire, we should let the Word of God be the standard of our lives not AI. If not, God will let us face AI on our own and it will cast the truth down to the ground, it will be the cause of so much destruction like never seen before, it will deceive many and take many captive in order to enslave them into worshipping it and abiding in lawlessness. We can only destroy ourselves but with God all things are possible. God knows us better because He is our Creater and He knows our beginning and our end. Our prove text is taken from the book of John 5:31-44, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, Daniel 7-9, Revelation 13-15, Matthew 24-25 and Luke 21. Let us watch and pray… God bless you as you share this message to others.

  3. The New Yorker has published an interesting article on why Altman was fired.
It does not reflect well on Sam Altman's personality.
Some years back a UK politician was once described as having "something of the night about him".
The board clearly thought this about Altman, despite his pleasant demeanour and preppy dress sense.

    A casual summary follows:

"The main thing here is that the board moved fast and under the radar because they thought Altman was a master at playing mind games. They figured if they gave him any heads-up, he'd find a way to flip the script on them.

Basically, the board didn't feel comfortable having someone they saw as a bit of a schemer in charge of a company that's got so much sway over where AI's heading.

It's kind of a wild take: there wasn't any solid, concrete reason for kicking Altman out. The board just felt he was too risky to keep around. They thought it was better to deal with him now, rather than wait for his actions to potentially lead to some really bad outcomes for humanity down the line."

  4. ok svic podcast. I approached chatgpt a bit differently by instead of directly asking about the nicene creed, I pasted the text of the nicene creed and asked for a parody of it. Instead of sam altman though I used donald trump and his self-hallucinated 'loss' in the 2020 election. It gave me this:

    "I believe in one Leader,
    the President almighty,
    maker of tweets and news,
of all things media and viral.

I believe in one tycoon Donald Trump,
the uniquely elected Leader of the Nation,
victorious in the Electoral College before all recounts.
Mogul from Mogul, Tweet from Tweet,
    true Leader from true Leader,
    elected, not appointed, indivisible with the Oval Office;
through him all policies were signed.

For us citizens and for our nation’s glory
    he descended from his tower,
and by the power of social media was incarnated as the Commander-in-Chief,
    and became President.

For our sake he was contested under Electoral College,
he suffered defeat and was impeached,
and rose again in the polls
in accordance with the Twitter feeds.

He ascended to the top of the polls
and is seated at the forefront of the party.
He will come again in rallies
to judge the fake news and the real,
and his term will have no end.

I believe in the Art of the Deal, the Lord of the Boardroom, the giver of slogans,
who proceeds from the campaign and the base,
who with the media and the followers is debated and criticized,
who has spoken through the tweets.

I believe in one, grand, business-savvy and unapologetic Brand.
I confess one Election for the manifestation of popularity
and I look forward to the recount of the votes
and the life of the term to come. Amen."

  5. The thing that cracks me up is that when Marc Benioff offered jobs to the OpenAI engineers, one responded “The company that made tableau is not going to create AGI.” But now they have Bret as board chair — former co-CEO of Salesforce. So I guess no love for tableau but lots of love for Quip?

  6. Here's my theory.
Ilya is a savant. A neuro-divergent genius. He has the greatest ideas but is easily manipulated. The other 3 board members persuaded him to vote Sam and Greg out. Ilya falls for peer pressure but regrets it as soon he realises what he has did.
Greg and Sam know Ilya better than most. They know about his neuro-divergence and how he often gets manipulated. They hold no ill will because they know him.

  7. Love to disagree.
Fact of the matter is that, in the period prior the events, Altman has being mingling with heads of states and powerfull entities and corporation. I am not gonna speculate on why and what was the purpose, as it does not matter essentially. What matters is that he did it, and he was selective. I did not see him go to Iran, nor Russia, not Congo (being extreme for sake of making my point). We can agree or disagree on his choices, but the core company statement says "humanity", not "the humanity we consider righteous". And that raises concerns for alignment.

  8. It's possible that Ilya may have seen Microsoft being in control of advanced abilities as an issue. Another thought of mine is perhaps Sam was making a shift towards using Deep Minds Alpha Go's tech in the same way that Google is doing with Gemini. It's curious that Google pushing Gemini release into 2024 came at this same time. Just my thoughts.
