  1. Thank you so much for all your helpful comments so far, I’ve read them all! As you all know, I’m no mechanic but always willing to give things a go however I think I’ve reached the end of my tether with this one… on a trailer to a garage she goes 😂

  2. Is there a sock on the fuel pump for that? I never had fuel issues with my volvo but i did have an audi 90 where the sock on the fuel pump with completely cooked with debris from the fuel tank, after it was replaced, it worked like a charm

  3. That filter on the line in the engine bay is the wrong way round and take the fuel line off and crank it to see if there is pressure running through the line if not will be injectors

  4. Maybe blur or remove your street name off the door number plate outside your house. Took about 2 minutes to find your house and there’s some right weirdos about 👍

  5. My 940 my fuel gauge doesnt work and the sock on the bottom was kinked , spray dome brake clean up the intake while crank and that will rule out anything other than fuel , i ended up going standalone ecu on mine juwt to avoid sll the temperamental electrics

  6. Looking at the colour of the fuel that came out of that filter suggests the filter on the pump may be clogged as I believe you said the car had stood a while prior to this
Tank may need cleaning out and filter in tank on sender may need attention.

  7. Few potential issues I can see.
•just because you can hear the pump doesn’t mean it’s working.
•did you prime the fuel after changing the filter, it would take a lot longer than that for it to come through.
•check the fuel lines before the filter something may of perished in the tank, not uncommon.

I’d be going with the second and ruling out the first while you’re there.

  8. Emily! Me and my bf are finnally looking at cars again and have always had my eye on the c30 its kind of late in the game though they are 11+ years old I'm looking at a 12' 75k miles* (like 120k km) t5 5 cyl turbo do you think I should scoop it there are free Cara that are around 10000 that have low miles I can find newer kias Hyundai and like sentras with less miles but they suck ill be paying it off in like 3 years and don't want a ton of problems

  9. Old cars and penetrating oil are best friends 😁 i hope you gave it enough time turning it over to let the fuel get through. You should have undone the filter in the engine bay to see if it was getting through, take the back seat out to get to the pump in the tank, if the pipes are perished they could be leaking back into the tank when under pressure, i had that with a lancia delta once

  10. You most likely have a blockage between the filter and engine. Either that or an airlock, but I don’t think it’s that unless you’ve had the fuel system apart before the starting issues

  11. Emily that my friend is air in the system! Crack the nuts on fuel lines to the injectors then get someone to turn the engine over until the fuel comes out! Repeat this on each injector then retighten the nuts and try! remember these cars work off pump pressure so if the fuel isnt getting to the injectors the pump has failed! so try the air lock fiirst injector end then look at the fuel pump! Best of luck

  12. Just get a shit in line fuel pump of ebay or scrappers and stick the inlet hose straight in a jerry can of fuel, connect the outlet of the pump into that bone dry clear filter in the engine bay and connect the wires directly onto ur battery with some jump leads/crocodiles or just shove the bare wires under the battery terminals.. If it primes/starts ur golden mush and you know its something to do with the fuel system. Maybe dead relay/wiring loom broken/ blocked lines/ dead head fuel system with air lock (is there return fuel lines back to the tank?? if not, you might need to pull the line off at the fuel rail and SUCK the fuel all the way through with something, or pressurise the tank and push it through, if the pump cant self prime a dry system)

What engine, ecu, and wiring loom does it have? what year is it all from?

No rpm signal when cranking is an interesting one, almost all cars give an rpm signal when cranking, but yours might take that rpm signal from the distributor instead of a crank signal if it's that old, or maybe it just never had a working rpm signal

Wouldn't stress about all this shit and take it to a garage, this will be a really simple solution i guarantee haha

  13. is there fuel in the tank? I know that's a dumb question, but it's easy to take for granted…
also it's possible to reuse copper washers, I've done it many times. if it leaks you can anneal it, but most of the time it works just fine the second time around

  14. Open up the tank make sure the pump is getting fuel the intank strainer might be clogged or the pipe from strainer to pump might have broken up with the new e10 fuels. Blow all the lines out if all fails get a hand suction pump looks like a rugby ball with nipples at either end and fit it near in the small filter spot and pull fuel through once through take it off and refit filter. Not sure if you have a fuel pump and lifter pump or just a fuel pump that has a nonreturn that has lost its prime when the filter was removed.

  15. Exactly the same thing happened with my 940 I tried everything you tried, I swapped the ecu as mine was chipped and it fired up straight away so I got a couple of auto electricians out and they couldn’t figure it out so after 2 years of messing around with it I cut it up and bought another 940

  16. One thing I might try is pull the feed into that fuel filter again & run the fuel pump [put a catch can underneath] to see if fuel comes out. If it does, the fuel pump is working & there's a blockage ahead of the fuel filter; this is very unlikely because for that to be true, whatever is blocking the line would surely have to have come through that fuel filter… If it doesn't, the problem is between the fuel filter & the tank. At that point, hook a compressor up to the fuel line from the tank & blow. When you hear bubbling in the tank, you k ow the fuel line is clear, either because it always was or because you've blown the blockage out. If it now works then your problem is crap in the fuel tank, if it doesn't, your fuel pump may run but it isn't pumping…

  17. I enjoyed the violence your other half applied to that fuel filter to get it out – I hope he knew in advance that you weren't just going to change a filter element & re-use the canister 🙂

  18. I think your new fuel pump is going to last 5 minutes before it springs a leak – Because you haven't replaced the strap, it will vibrate and rub away, causing a hole to appear in the side – OOPS!! 😵😵‍💫

  19. Remove the banjo bolt from the filter and turn ignition on if it pisses fuel out then the line between filter out and that inline filter in engine bay is blocked if it doesn’t then either pipe into filter from tank pump or that pipe is shagged

  20. Fuel gauge looked empty 🤔
Bleed air out of the fuel line.
Lift fuel pump out and see if the pipe isn’t rotten or dropped off
Clean the basket mesh under the pump it’s probably all blocked up

  21. I would undo the 10mm bolts from the fuel rail and lift it up gently, put a piece of papertowel underneath the injectors and crank it over. if there is no fuel or bad atomization its a fuelling issue. i'll bet its your fuelpump who has given up. If your pump works properly and the lines aren't blocked the pressure in the fuelrail should have been 3bars which would open the fuelregulator and your little inline filter would have some fuel in it. There is also this tire valve on the fuelrail if you push that in with a small flathead screwdriver after you had the car on ignition a few times there should be pressure on it you could hook a fuelpressure gauge onto this valve if you want to be sure

  22. Even if it was the filter it should not have been so on and off, it would have been acting up gradually. Rubber lines for brakes can collapse internally but never heard that it could happen to rubber fuel lines, they are more likely to start leaking instead. My guess is that the "sock" in the fuel tank is clogged, or somewhere around the fuel pickup. Or the pump itself is worn out.

  23. Got a vauxhall had a similar issue turned out to be the maf sensor car didn't know or see the quantity of air funny part didn't give any errors check engine light never came on just googled a bit seems some people got the volvo to start by disconnecting the maf apparently the volvo has a base maf "tune" the maf is tuned for more *efficiency" less pollution

  24. Just because the pump is making a noise, doesn’t mean it’s any good. Also.. the colour of the fuel isn’t good.. orange? And rusty.
disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter in… and crank/run the pump.. fuel should piss out.
Check the colour again.. if you have a metal tank, the tank could be rusty, or the pump..

  25. Maybe take the pipe off that new filter you fitted and turn it over granted it’ll make a mess then you’ll know you getting it to the filter. If it does come out then I focus on putting new line in from there to the engine bay

  26. the fuel filter under the bonnet is the wrong way round I think. I'm sure they only flow one way and your one looks like it's arse about face. Probably why there's absolutely no fuel in the filter. Try it.😉👍

  27. sounds like the pick up in the tank is blocked sometimes they have a mesh filter on the bottom of the pick up that sit in the bottom of the fuel tank and it gets blocked with rust dirt etc
you can check it quickly by blowing compressed air down the fuel line to the tank that should temp clear the filter so you can see if it starts

  28. Take petrol filter back off make sure you open the led on tank and put some compressed air in the lines before getting a new fuel pump . Do both sides of the line find the line from the motor and make sure you blow it back not towards as you will create more problems . Good luck

  29. Check whole system from pump to return as might be restrictikn / collapsed line ( yhat fuel looked minging too ) As your cranking I noticed your getting no movement on rev counter check crank signal etc also might of immobilised via ecu so check connections and make sure pins etc arent green and also earth's good to block if not already good luck.
