So this the edited version of my initial reply

Sir. When looking at history its important to recognise that different disciplines look at the history of Science: Differently!

Equally important is to whom the science & technology is being presented to.

For Example, for most people the history they get taught in school is the history of the nobs. The mover & shakers, and it doesn't relate to them in anyway. But when you were at the Dragon (and at Slough High 😝), you would have known other pupils even classmates where the history is being told is about them & their families! For example you might have overlapped with Nick & Tim Knatchbull when you were in A and they were in E.

My introduction to this was Rethinking History by Jenkins. But if I was going to recommend one book its Bruno Latour's Science in Action: How to Follow Scientists and Engineers Through Society (ISBN 0-674-79291-2)

I also have one question for you, as I have ADHD, I need to be careful with para-social dynamics: If I should bump into you sometime in Town or Gown, through friends etc, should I bring up the history of technology? Obviously if you were speaking at the Union that's a different context. But generally because of para-social dynamics I would avoid rocking up to your absolutely gorgeous Wolfram Research Building outside Oxford and just saying hello.
