  1. With those Samsungs I often use an external monitor through a usb-c dock w/ pd charging to test if it's more than the screen. It would've been tricky with those ones since they're locked though. On the lock screen you just see a lock icon on the monitor as it waits for you to unlock the phone. Ideally with a customer device you can just keyboard in a passcode or password. Patterns are way harder to do since you're using a mouse or touch screen blind usually. With all that said, having that tool as an option gives you more information and a really easy way to recovery data without a full screen assembly.

Hard to imagine, restorations' being profitable as a full time job.

  5. It might be worth trying the iPad again. I have the same issue with my iPad 4 (2012). If the battery runs empty and I want to turn it on I have to charge it for an hour at least. Otherwise the display will just flash and turn off again.
