Pitty that its even more ugly now 😛
Specially the wheel houses make it look so wonky. designer should get fired.
How much does that Ecoflow battery in the trunk weigh? 20kg?
Now, the Kona has the same size as the Chevrolet Bolt EUV
The Kona 2024. EV3 big sister. Sounds like an all round great car. I prefer decent back wi dows voew with lots of glass, bit most EVs seem togo letterbox with crappy 1080-720 p camera. A pity because when you get older, sharp view or larger sharper image becomes relevant. I wonder if we can anything more to get this Kona more efficient to 301 km @ 120 kph?
Love the Kona!
Awsome video, i love kona so much that we have two of them 2020 model. Damn you tried the old kona with extreme low temperature -15°C and -13°C
Hi, its pity that you don't use dedicated mic for testing sound system 🙁 I wonder, how cars sounds compared to bmw 7 series E65 Logic7 sound system.. I am holding on to my old 750i just for sound quality 🙂 and 270kw… and ride quality… and sound insulation… but damn it is expensive to maintain….
"Bose" not high-end!? 🙂
Well heating battery will get optimal capacity and then you don't coldgate on fast chargers
Normal vehicles or normal people. I am not a fan of the Kona, but it really is pretty efficient for what it is and looks like a very competent package. The pricing in North America is a little to high for what it is. It should be less expensive than the Model 3 RWD by a decent amount and it isn't. Looks to me like the Kona is under rated.
Looks like crap. Engineers and designers at Hyundai: "Aerodynamics?. WTF is that?"
For More efficiënt heating you should use infra-red heating; it wil only heat the surface (and not the whole garage)
2023 and previous kona also heat the battery while charging with ac and it is cold.
Looking at new Kona tech spec: how come it has now a way less torque, 140 Nm less? 395 vs 255 Nm?
It only needs a proper charging speed.
Never liked the kona, only my kona👍because of the frontcharging, frontwheeldrive which is bad in winter Norway. The place inside was tiny. The best was the consumption and the range of this car. Now they didn’t change the charging point, still frontwheeldrive 👎🏿but now its ugly too. 90% of my charging i do at home driving in the garage frontwise so front charging is a bug.
1:40 haha.. Yes FWD is dead, D E D!
The old kona (had a 22 model ) Also had a great lane keep system. I used it everywhere and it even worked on small very curvy roads to a degree. On the highway it was completely boss. My new MG4 however is a kamikaze machine from space that tries to kill me everyday so i got it turned off until they someday software adjust it even more. My suprise is how efficient my old kona was compared to the MG4. The MG is thirstyyyyyy and use bloody 25 ish far over the 18.3 New kona looks real nice though.
The new Kona seems like a big step up from the old one. I’d get one if I was in the market for a hatchback that I didn’t need to road trip much.
Damn, Norway is so beautiful, even more in winter, despite Salz-Schmutz-Fest 😃
How well do children see outside from their child seats? With new cars one big concern is rear windows, restricting their view… You then have to give them your phone to keep them entertained 😢
You should test it with 17" wheels, the official figures shows really different consumption 😉
The Ioniq 38 kWh will also run the battery heater untill the battery minimum reaches about 15-20 C when charging on AC.
My ID.3 doesn't heat up the battery when AC charging (unless its really cold), it just charges really slow.. I'd rather have it to heat the battery and then charge 11kw than charge at 5kw and double the time.. So I have to jojo the last kilometers before home so the battery is warm enough to take 11kw untill 80%
Noice. Question: These results show improvements, however, what could be the factor? Aerodynamics or temperature?
We bought the 2023 Kona before the new refresh design, thankfully. Felt like the whole point of the Kona was to be a subcompact SUV Crossover styled vehicle but the new one is much bigger. I suppose that's what a lot of people want? The lack of auto lifting tailgate on previous models is sort of unforgivable but not completely a deal breaker, clearly. I much prefer the center console of the previous Kona EV. I don't know why they just didn't brand this for what it is, an IONIQ SUV instead of the Kona. Little gripes, it seems to appear their NAV system suffers from slow/sluggish movement on screen still, I don't know why they haven't figured that out. You mention noise being a problem, but I don't feel it's a problem with the previous version. Actually I remember enjoying how much quieter it was over our older Scion iQ. I wonder if the new/different tires on the 2024 model make even a bigger difference in that regard. Not at all a fan of that forward eye facing sensor system they've implemented, like what's the point of having it if it still requires your hands to be on the wheel…. it would be nice to see some battery refinements in the near future for an 80KW version. Beautiful view for scenic driving!
I can see that Hyundai still likes proper roof beams. In 2015 I happened to hit my head so hard in one that I got a real concussion so everything went black and white. I can still feel it and probably went a little crazy at the same time.
I had the 2020 Kona. Summer range was Oslo to Bergen without having to charge. Not sure if the new one has less range but Hyundai have always been very efficient, I think they have very good regen. It's great that the 2023 version has better storage but the price has also increased quite a lot. I'm also glad they brought the info back where you can see what functions use power. This was on the 2020 but then it disappeared with a software update in 2022!
Kona is lame. We want EV9 content 🙂 or EV-NEIN as you prefer
I wonder if the car would heat up the battery even with a lower charging current.
Even Zoe need to heat up battery for charging on AC. I was on 22 kW and needed to wait 25 minutes, feel like 1 hours before the car start to charge the battery.. What the heck!
I'm wondering how the pricing looks like in NO, I've checked the price list and in NO the new Kona is cheaper roughly by 6.7kEUR then in Czechia, which kind a pissed me off since it is been manufactured 10km from where I live.
Oh man, I hope you wont burn your house down, using PTC heater laying on the back where the airflow should be is not a good idea. It shouldn't even work since there supposed to be safety switch turning the heater off when not standing upright.
