I just got my engine back from the mechanics and I can’t believe what it cost. They did a great job cleaning it all up and fixing all of the little issues it…

Nice work. The running dialogue is decent too.
A tough time growing a beard might mean you have Indigenous blood.
Keep your tools rolled up in oil cloth and you will be able to resist that rust action for a long time. Also spraying them with that W D 40 stuff.
I can see the snow caps melting!🤣🤣🤣
Stainless tools are a thing. They are just expensive. I always stocked up on harbor freight tools and considered them as "consumables". Way cheaper, and it doesn't hurt so much when you inevitably lose them.😂 Keep up the content. It's great!
If that’s all you paid for the engine overhaul, I’m sure they gave you a few grand of for advertising for them
Put your rusty tools in vinegar for a day, rust will come off, WD40 after.
What gear you have on there?an what speed she runs in knots are mph?
With those hose clamps, some that are labeled stainless steel have the screw made from ferrous steel. You should be able to tell in a few weeks, the non-stainless parts will start to rust fairly rapidly. Regular stainless 3" to 4" clamps $3.00 each, all stainless clamps $8.00 each (roughly). Best way to get the real ones, is to buy from your local marine supply house that you trust.
“It makes me wanna smoke cigarettes and buy a ‘67 Chevelle and never work on it” 😂
What was that big twin screw boat
ratchet wrenches!!
Uh, My guy……. You got that engine out and you are not gonna change that hose on the stuffing box. You were still poopin in your draws when that current hose was new! LOL Must be a Maryland thing….
Galling is one of the reasons they don’t make a lot of stainless tools.
2200 pd 3208 cat man FL
Stainless is to soft to make tools they do make some gunmetal bronze tools
Great decision and great job. You're definitely ready now!
I can’t remember the name. But there is a company in Australia that makes stainless tools. I use to get sockets from them for the driver handle cranks I made to go on my crank tank lobster tanks I make. Quality stuff. But I lost there info when my shop burned. Can’t remember the name for the life of me.
keep the content coming, love your stuff!
They do make stainless tools however they suck. Low grade stainless so they still rust, and stainless by nature i quite a bit softer than steel. Makes for really crappy cutters.
They do make rust free tools, you just wouldn’t want to pay for them or drop one in the water. Buy em cheap and replace em often is pretty much boat code.
Walk by the vw bus….
How is the crisfield area, was looking at a place there?
I've worked for a Cat marine engine dealer for 27 plus years, used to work on lots of 3208's. They quit production about 2002 or so- a Cat marine factory rep told me they wanted to get a factory reman program for the 3208 like Cummins has for the B and C series- but they needed to come up with 200 good cores first. The tooling to manufacture the blocks was destroyed when they stopped production. That bill you paid was NOTHING man! Oh so many marine engine turbos "rot" salt air wafting up that exhuast pipe erodes the housing, boost falls off. Usually low hour pleasure boats.
hahaha, like you would splurge for stainless tools! who you kiddin' .
If I wasn’t more happy for one person than I am for Luke! 😊
