  1. Sony should have just made the portal with the ability to download digital PS5 and PS4 games so you could play them on the go. What an absolutely terrible product.

  2. Great content, finally managed to see whats running inside it.
With some bootloader exploit it would be trivial to make it run stock android or even run linux.

  3. To me, this device is useless since you must have a strong wi-fi connection and a PS5 to use it and of course you must have digital games to access. Playstation is turning into Apple, if you do not have the Playstation products it won't work, like bluetooth headphones. I do not like this business model because it means that they can set the price as high as they want.

  4. I don't see how Sony didn't make this a console of its own with possibility of remote play. Ik the ps vita flopped but portables are back and doing ok. (Ik it could take a bit to find the correct components to put in it)

  5. I know the teardown was mostly flying blind, but I feel like it's really misguided. Let's start with the controllers, typical DualSense teardown. Except now you have the RKJX2 stickboxes what can be accessed via removing the black plastics and thumbcaps, most failure-prone part is the easiest to access. Next are the rest of the controllers, remove the plastics, then you can pop out every FPC connector, then desolder the primary motor's wires; disappointingly these also aren't FPC. From there you're intended to use one of those heat bags, glorified bag of steamed rice, to get the screen adhesive to loosen in one shot, or at least one shot per side; frankly nobody uses a heat gun anymore, and if they do they're not going to heat the screen to the point of potentially damaging the battery, also it's not all that different from a modern phone's assembly so your statements are extremely misguided. You really come off as having no experience repairing devices, and it really shows in this video; Sony doesn't have a little black box that's difficult to open, it's just a hybrid of a mobile device and a controller, and it uses typical assembly of both, anyone with actual experience repairing devices would not have the issues you had. I'm also not surprised by the assembly, apply some logical thought as to what would happen if things were 'more accessible' via the rear; I'm not all for the disassembly process here, but at the same time Sony backed themselves into a corner with the design they chose, both functionally and aesthetically, which outright requires the disassembly process they went with.
