I got faster internet for only $50 from AT&T Gigabit Fiber using an SFP+ module installation

A user, Cats, informed me of a SFP+ Module that would work with the Ubiquiti UDM Pro. This module allows for 1G, 2.5G, 5G, and 10G modes. So by connecting my UDM Pro to the 5Gb Ethernet port on the BGW 320, I was able to overprovision my network and get more bandwidth from my ISP.

Hi, I have att fiber 1gb and bgw320-500 modem. I want to buy the Cisco device you have linked. But, I am not sure if it is the correct one for the modem or, if you have some other equipment that you have swapped the Cisco device. Can you clarify.
I have att 500 speed, I have the bg210 router..set in pass throughput mode with 3 eero6 routers hardwired in my home.how could I incorporate this and which transceiver would I need? Thanks in advance.
Hey SPXLabs I have a similar setup to yours [Unifi UDM Pro SE / ATT BGW-320 Gateway) Do I purchase the Wiitek SFP+ to RJ45 Copper Module for Cisco [shown in your video] or the Ubiquiti one?
Im getting 1.1 down over my bgw210 cat 5e cables, computer is a 1tb mac studio m2. The wiring in the house is about 6 years old. interestingly enough, upload is only about 860.
Att Gateway 5gb port, cat 6 to this SFP module into the UDMPro SFP port? Will my network see 5gb speeds? I have cat 6 throughout house.
What if you take there sfp and put it directly into you router and not use there's?
Looks like AT&T caught on capped at 950 on download since latest firmware update on BGW320. But upload is still 1200. So now getting 950/1200
This video lol.
I am curious if you know how to bypass the att modem and use orbi instead with the art provided fiber optic wire? I’ve been trying to find a sfb transceiver that will plug into a converter I bought. Trying to plug the converter into my router with Ethernet. And connect the incoming fiber optic to the converter. Desperate for some help!!
Is there something you configured because my AT&T IP pass through isn’t working?
You’re going to ruin it for us all, take this down lol
Are you using a CAT 6 cable to the UDM pro?
Mine used to be over provisioned, after rebooting recently I noticed they limited it back down to 1000. Maybe they only 'fixed' it in certain markets.
Is there anyway to use my own equipment with att fiber and not use their god awful gateway?
i have a 2.5gbps switch and a 2.5gbps nic card but my mesh router only supports 1gbps 🙁 and the mesh routers that support 2.5gbps are more expensibe 🙁
An AT&T technician told me this morning that they always provide speeds faster than what you purchased by quite a decent margin sometimes up to 20%, and the only reason it slows down to the speed you paid for or lower is because of copper wiring
Great video I was looking for something like this. The only issue is that it didn't work for me like your setup. I bought 10000Base-T SFP RJ-45 100-m from H! Fiber. Its came with 2 of them. I could not get a the UDMPRO to get an IP address from the modem.
Could it be because mine was not the + version?
Do you have a 2.5 gigabit ethernet on your motherboard that you can plug into the 5 gigabit port on the AT&T bgw320 Gateway and see if you can get higher than 1 gigabit
It's not really "over provisioning" , most providers will set your bootfile bandwidth to a speed higher than what you are paying for to account for overhead, etc… and this is common in shared residential or business class areas for ISPs.
Sad with 30 mbps 🥲🥲
I have 6mbps -_-
Thank you for saying it right the mbps
Are you authenticating to UDM? I've seen reports that PPPoE authentication in UDM it slows down
For some reason I am getting really shotty upload. But placing it in the wan port my upload shoots right up.
I already had all the equipment and even the exact sfp but I stopped using it because my uploads where bad it never occurred to me to restart my UDM Pro. I'm so mad now as I have been having it sit for almost a year feeling it was a waste of money. Doing some Testing now..
pull out that SFP from that router and plug it in to UDM pro so to get higher speed and lower latency
I still have the old BGW 210 but AT&T wont change my modem to the BGW320… I've tried to get ATT to bring me the new modem but they're not budging… I wish we could just take their direct fiber line into the UDM Pro…
I am on 500/500 fiber plan is it worth getting the one GB? I always get 1GB upload speed for some reason tho but download is only 610MB.
