  1. i don't think anyone use pure silicon, usually it's combined with foam, foam affect sound while silicon dampen it, remove hollowness and add some weight to you board so that it'll feel more stable, usually it's used with high angled cases with a lot of hollow space (which isn't about v1 max)

  2. I think it's the way keychron makes the keyboard. I couldn't really tell a difference. I think it may be their keycaps are light and always sound kind of hollow. I have a k12 and I do like it, it has clicky keys. All my boards sound different and keychron definately sounds the most hollow.

  3. There was a small difference, better with the silicone. However those thin tall caps are a much bigger problem IMHO, to me they just sound terrible regardless. Add that the bananas are kind of clacky and you get that resonate hollow sound. I think with the Silicone plus a creamier switch with thick PBT or ABS caps that board could sound pretty amazing with your mod.

  4. I use silicon in spacebar and all modifier keys and sometimes the tab and right shift keys to get same even sound from all keys. So use that extra in the key caps. I also put pennies down before I pour the Silicone to give board weight.

  5. The silicone made it incrementally better… More than just the space bar, but sum total difference is still small. I guess if you've got nothing else to do it could be worth it. Thanks for experimenting and sharing!

  6. The spacebar difference is obvious, otherwise I didn't hear much. I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to prop up the front of the board so the top level of the silicone was parallel to the keybed.
