  1. On the one hand, I want to encourage Konami to continue taking steps in the right direction, even if it’s a fairly small and somewhat flawed step. On the other hand, it’s such an awful company that I don’t want to encourage them to continue making only the smallest possible steps, because they have so much work to do.

I’m very conflicted on whether or not I should buy this collection as a result, so I guess I won’t. Hopefully they do better with Vol. 2 so I can justify that purchase more.

  2. Outlandish opinion: twin snakes port would have been better than the MGS port 🤭 (, mechanics wise it's so similar to mgs2 it would have been a nicer transition)

  3. its 1999, we just moved to a new town because of my dads job and my mom takes us to wal mart to do some grocery shopping and in the electronics section they have a plays tation and n64 demo stations….that summer i must have played the demo for meta gear solid 2 or 3 dozen times at least, it inspired my brother and i to do all kinds of jobs to earn money to save up to buy a USED crappy ps1, my new friend from school stayed the weekend with us after we finally got that ps1 and we rented mgs from a local mom and pop rental shop and ill never forget having to call the rental place and ask for the code on the back of the case. oh and the mantis fight where you have to switch controller ports and he read your saved games from your memory cards was truly mind blowing at the time.
fast forward a few years and metal gear solid 2 comes out, ill never forget thinking the game was broken during that sequence towards the end of the game, my friends and i kept restarting it thinking the game was bugging out, then we realized no its supposed to happen this way and then discovering why.

  4. My childhood friend owned the original MGS1 and I used to play it occasionally, though I was way too young to actually understand anything. Hell, me and and my friend was super amazed that the manual said "damn" (it to how to deal with cameras) XD. I never owned a playstation.

MGS2 is the first one where I played on my own and all the way through, and though I was a lot more competent at games I really was still too long to really understand the big picture of the story and what it was trying to say.

The first time I actually played through MGS1 was the gamecube version, Twin Substance (or something like that) which was basically a MGS2 style for the original and I loved it. Kinda wish that version got updated and released as well.
