Why can't it be repaired? Is there something wrong with the custom chip running it? It looked like there was at least one port missing or ripped out in the back. If that was a power connector and that is the issue you could always just supply it with 5v DC to see if you could get it to power on. Of course I'm just guessing based on what little I could see so you could totally do a follow up on this trying to get it working.
