The howling from that guitar sounded heavenly
Wow… Looks like Garbage but Sounds awesome…
There’s a bond between you and this beautiful old LP Jr – almost as special as your favourite Stratocaster.
Sympathetically breathing new life into this old guitar will reward you tenfold Matthew – and you’ve done a great job with restoration… retaining the history and ‘personality’ of the guitar.
Sincere congratulations… there’s no greater feeling than bringing something deemed to be a ‘write-off’ back to life.
Enjoy it and play it like crazy…😊
yessir
You did that guitar justice!
Dayum!!! That sounds incredible! What a cool guitar. Maybe you talked about it but what do you plan to do to keep the remaining yellow paint from coming off?
That resonance and tone! I just laughed when I just heard that 😂. Amazing
Fantastic video. Stunning old guitar but man I love your playing.
Anyone appreciating the resonance of the beast when it’s unplugged. What a guitar ❤
Refin for sure❤
I watch a LOT of guitar videos on YT . . . was waiting for this restore video . . . best content I've seen, bringing this old beater back to life.
Man that tone ' …what a great job Matthew …one of the coolest guitars I've seen …and again, that tone ' Just a thought – before taking the pot apart, is it possible to, very carefully drill and tap into the remainder of the post and add a small extension? or solder?
That acoustic sound when you put the new strings on was something else…
You can get locking nuts from music city to help with the bridge lean
Hey Matt, next time try to reparied the cracks before you put in the dowels. It sounds really good. Great job. I give you a B+.
Great content
personally id play it and hang it on the wall and not restore it in anyway. ruins the value trust me
Love it man but Please give that board some oil !!!! its so dry it just looks thirsty as hell haha sounds crazy good tho. nicely done as always
Dude
Loving this one Matt. And congrats on the Antone's gig. Would love to be there.
You amaze ne,as always, with your playing, as well as your repair skills. You may want to try to get ahold of Austin at Trogly guitar show. He has some original holly wood veneers for Gibson Les Pauls. It may well behoove you to contract him. He may be able to help you on your journey. I Love what you do, brother. Peace 🕊️.
its just floors me how some people can just destroy a guitar. i mean WTF was the original owner, raised in a pig farm? sounds really good. great job
That sustain bro 🤯
completely remove the neck, then says by removing the four screws… wow… the king of overstatement… and narcissism.
Nice job. Looking forward to more work on it. My father was an engineer and master cabinet maker and I recognize everything you were doing ✅. I spent my whole life watching my dad make and fix everything so I know when it’s done right. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵🩵
That thing just oozes mojo. So cool man
Matthew! As you started to disassemble the guitar, I was so happy to hear the timbre of the old mahogany pieces. As you pulled the neck it creaked it’s way out of the neck pocket, and just placing it on your bench top, you captured some truly rare sounds. You did beautiful work at every step of the way! Thank you for sharing this amazing time in your life. BTW Break a leg at the upcoming show(s) ! ! !

theo lawrence! that dude makes great records
Nice, sounds amazing! Looks cool too!
Those joints wont last. You put glue on top of some cracks in a dried out body. The wood wicked most of the glue away from the joint. The crack should have been shimmed open and glue applied with a needle tipped injector. Water thin CA glue for the cracks then set the neck with Titebond, or preferably hide glue so you can sweat the neck off easier in the future.
Sounds good.
She just wants to be played.
Love your videos but the icing on the cake is listening to you play
Hey Matthew, Great work and awesome instrument, just in the tuning, that guitar and you, sound so much better than me playing with a full rig. Cheers.
The ‘54 rides again!
